Only modification is MT drag radials.

I am still working on getting 11.9x with just tires.
The E55 is surprising for a lot of people.

Congrats on the time... definitely among the fastest stock e55's. Looks like you need to change your SN.

Wow
WOW! I have always thought based solely on my own ripping around in this car that the biggest hurdle for the E55 isn't lack of hp and tq, but lack of TRACTION. Your numbers seem to bear that out. Any recommendations out there on the best, stickiest street legal tires for these cars??

with street tyres and traction control on i ran a 12.8 sec.

with m/t drag radials 17 inch and traction control off in manual mode i ran a 12.6 sec @ 181km/h.
a few questions:
1. what size drag radials are u using?
2.what feul?
3.temperature of both car and day?
4.what mode did u use on the gearbox??
5. was the entire tract prepared with trackbite??

No question about it... the Mickey Thompson DR's. Problem is they don't make them in 18" so you'll have to go with the BFG DR's.

True. The BF's aren't far off. You can always get different rims, I ran 16"'s.

Full slip,
60: 1.768
330: 5.106
1/8: 7.836
MPH: 89.79
1000: 10.189
1/4: 12.149
MPH: 115.99

Weather was pretty good, mid 60s air temp.
Coolant temp was between 80-90 (celsius).
Transmission in 'S', launch in 1st gear.
Suspension in comfort.
Launch was done by right foot off the brake pedal and stomp the throttle as fast as I can.
Traction control off.
Mini burnout (water box, transmission in 'M', 1st gear burnout w/o brakes).
255/50/16 MT drag radials w/ CCW wheels.
Rear tire pressure at 22psi.
92 octane crappy pump fuel from the NW.
Track wasn't prep very well at all. Just a little VHT from a hand pump near the starting line.

Any ideas how to launch the car harder? The MT drag radials are awesome.

DerekFSU, When I ran the 11.84 with filters and the snorkel mod using your tires, the car would dead hook no matter how hard i tried to leave. I always stall the convertor, next time at the track i will just flash the convertor to see if the 60ft improves.

I love M/T Drag Radials, I ran a 12.226 with the set I bought from dragonAMG last year
the only other mod was green filters. See signature for D/R photo's on car

here is the slip

Man... you stole those wheels from me.

That's one hell of a time Bill in a stock SLK55!!! Congrats! I barely beat that time in my C55K (16k in Kleemann mods)

try all of the above.
traction control off.
foot on the brakes
right foot on the pedal to about 3000rmp
lights green foot of the brakes and floor it.

with this method i ran a best time with a s55 stock 13.01 @ 175km/h

My God what does your car on street tires run? With just a Renntech stage 2your car could run like a 11.6-11.8!

YES, That was a very good deal for me.

Then they sat in the garage for close to 9 months, the C55 was bought back by MB in April due to issues with the command/cluster. Got a SLK55 and it seemed to take forever to put 5k miles on it before I took it to the track

Now I have a 125hp wet kit and every one will have to wait till Atlanta to see the times.

not to burst your bubble those are great times but when we rented the track at moroso last year Fikse was running 12.0 somethings hot lapping on stock conti's and I'm pretty sure he had decent trap speeds also. I offered him the use of the DR's that night but he was trying to break into the 11's on the contis. The BFG dr's are awesome power braking as high as the rpm's would go and tires just grip no slip at all they are amazing!
