Listen to this...

So we were all out at the track the other night, I blow a run and the official in the box tells me to either go down the track or back out, basically saying my run is over. Being that my run is blown and not wanting to post a 17-second pass, I go down the track at approx 30mph. Upon my return the same track official stops me and asks "why did you do that?" I reply, "do what?" He replies, "go down the track so slow." I go onto to explain that my run is blown and there is no need to fly down the track on a blown run. He seemed frustrated with my response and replied, "get the F**k out of here." So in turn, I reply "F**K you". I begin to drive off and he starts chasing me (on foot), mad as all hell like he wants to kill me!!! So naturally, I panic a little and speed up because one I don't want him to catch me.. two I don't want him to damage my car or whatever that maniac was trying to do... so I accellerate enough to get away from him... and then slow down and drive away from the speedway doing no more than 20-30mph.

The next day I get a phone call at work from someone who doesn't identify themselves asking if I was the Josh Hill that was at the track. I reply, "yes I am". So he replies, "the same Josh Hill who sped off the track?". Whoa... are you kidding me???? I drove out of there at like 20-30mph!!! So I reply, "actually I drove off quite calmly considering a maniac was chasing me because he has a hard time hearing "F**K you"!!!! I can't believe some people... hearing "F**K you" just sets them off. He then replies, "if you're going to be like that, we'll take it to the police" and hangs up on me. LOL... Completely bizarre... the whole thing was completely bizarre.

It gets better.... yesterday receive an email from Fiske saying that a person from LVMS emailed him saying that I almost hit a track official (the maniac about 10 ft behind my car chasing me) and that I sped off the track and they are looking for information about me??? So I give Fiske my number and welcome a call from LVMS... Yesterday I tried contacting the track to figure out what the heck is going on... if anything I should be the one looking for that maniac's information to press charges for attempted assualt.

Your worst nightmare...
It's better to clear your name up before this A...Hole reinvents more crap that you don't need right now. I would head down to the track escorted by police and hear his story in case he tries something. Plug it at the But!

I drive a E55T, SLK55 and 65 Mustang Conv.
I have to agree with the others here. Hindsight is 20/20 but reinvention is a pain in the A$$. Stop him from reinventing history while it's still fresh in others minds.

Get that "track official" nailed... talk to the REAL track officials asap so clear your name up and raise hell with them (possible slandering charges might get them scared). If he can't take that F-you, he shouldn't be f-ing bad mouthing others with an attitude first.

i know some folks who wouldn't have liked him trying to chase them down after a similar confrontation like you had. you probably did the right thing by just leaving but i would love to see this whole scenario play out with someone looking for trouble.

Actually I did... I had my boss call the President of LVMS (close friend of his). We just got off the phone with him. Sounds like everything is going to be put to rest. He pointed out that going down the track at 20-30mph was disrespectful and that I was completely in the wrong. In hindsight, from his/their point of view I can see how my going down the track at 20-30mph could have been interpreted as passive agressive and disrepectfull. That wasn't the case at all though... I didn't want to post a bad time and didn't want to waste the little gas I had left (near empty). In any event, I offered him my sincere apology.

In moving forward, if the track has some sort of expectations/policies/procedures of missing a light then that should be explaned in advance. That would make things run more smoothly at the track and avoid situations like this.

Good to know that stuff is being taken care of. As Kim said, hindsight is always 20/20. If he listened to your explanation instead of saying "get the f-out", it would have helped the situation. He's there as a representative of the track, so he has the responsibility to be courteous at all times, even if he's explaining the violation to you. I agree that cruising down the lane at 20-30mph is a little disrespectful, but you got your reasons and he should listen instead of being aggressive and go all out with the track user.

That's B.S. and you should tell him that. There is no rule that says you must make a full power pass if you have red-lighted and know it. Where are the "these aren't rules but things NOT to do because they are disrepectful" instructions? Was this ever explained to you or posted at the track? You do not owe anyone an apology. If anything, I'd tell the President to f*ck off as well and find another track.

Passive agressive

Josh:
Get the Guy's name that confronted you. Do a Back ground Check . You be be suprised!! My guess is this is not his first trip to trouble. Hold on to it. If it is really bad . You have a duty to yourself & his co-workers & employer , to expose his issues. Glad you made it out. I would have gone to the office right then and there. ___PTE___

Thank God

Josh,

Just read this thread and I'm really glad it is all put to rest. Having exchanged several e-mails and thread posts with you and having spoken with you on the phone, I can say your are a class act and a really nice guy. As I read the posts, I was worried this would grow a life of its own. You didn't do anything wrong and this hair-trigger a**hole didn't bother to let you explain your actions before jumping to conclusions. You will always have a supportive ear on this board!

This is simple:

Find out where he lives. Get all the AMG's in the area to go over there and do donuts on his lawn. End of story.

I still gotta feeling it ain't over with this guy Josh. KEEP THAT FRIGGIN CAR IN THE GARAGE AND OFF THE STREET (not parked in street) FOR THE NEXT WEEK OR SO.

This guy and his skinhead brethren get a couple of beers in um, and it's "Let's go kick the rich guys *** and key his car!!"

100% correct. low speed passes happen often because of circumstances similar to these and absolutely ZERO disrespect should have been assumed. find a new track and leave the tards to their silly made up rules of etiquette.

Alright Josh, was that your first run or did you get some other ones in? We need to see some times.

BTW, I see right through that story............... so why don't you just admit that you're a trouble maker.

Don't think a lot of people know that. It's a good info to know. But glad everything is ok now. So when are you going back? lol

Damn, that is messed up. The track offical says get fu*k outta here to you, yet gets all worked up when you say go fu*k yourself? So much for treating others how you want to be treated, lol. I say either go back and kick his *** or have a friend do it for you!

Was that guy really a track official? Based on his behavior, I have a really hard time believing this. The way he behaved was completely unprofessional and would probably get fired for talking to a customer like this in any other strip... however, I do think that you were wrong in leaving the track right away. You should've confronted him, he wouldn't dare touch you or your car. They are well aware of the fact that the dragstrip would be liable for any damages caused by their employees...

So explain to me how going down a track slowly is disrespectful? I can understand if you drive 5 mph and are holding up the track, but at 30 mph, you'll make it to the end quite quickly.
