Question Oil comsumption

Do you guys accept an internal (no external leak) engine oil consumption of 0.4 liters every 1000 km?

At a local MB dealership (with a very little experience in AMGs), an oil consumption test (by oil weight) showed the above figure. They considered that as an acceptable (as long as it is below 0.8 liters/ 1000 km). I refused this fact and I asked them to contact AMG in Germany for advice . We are still waiting for the AMG response.

The engine has 25 k km on it with no morning startup smoke.

E55 oil consumption

I remember reading a 62,000 mile long-term test that a German car magazine ( I believe it was Autozeitung) did with an E55. They also reported an average oil consumption of 0,5 Liters per 1000 km and AMG said it was normal if the car was driven aggressively.

On our cars, it doesn't have a dip stick, but has a electronic oil level sensor that you can check. It will tell you if you have enough, need more or added too much. It actually will tell you if you need to add another 1/2 liter and such.

I think with key on, scroll up from the temp screen. Instruction is in the user manual.

Is the car giving you warning to add more oil? If so, that does not happen to me before.

Good luck
