I know Spero used to have them on his E55. He never mentioned any rubbing problems.

Tire Size

What tire size do you run front and rear with SL65 rims on your W211?

Fronts are 245/35 PS2's and rears are 275/30 PS2's. Haven't had any issues with rubbing.

My W220 is dropped with same tire size and no rubbing at all.

No your wheels as you told me a while back were from a person who needed them for an E55. The wheels are SL65 but the tires are not. 65's have RE050A's in 255 and 285 sized tires. If you had those tires you would indeed have serious rubbing. The SL65 wheels work "ok" with 245 275 tires but some still have slight rubbing given the very agressive off-set on those wheels.

Still my #1 wheel for the car ... who cares if its a stone.... it just looks 100% perfect. To bad thy cost 4k+

Thats what I figured. To clarify for you, these wheels came off of an SL65 and were installed on an E55 wagon. The guy didn't like them so he had them taken off and I got them at a "used" price - about half that. Pretty soon after it first came out I remember looking at the tires on an SL65 and noticed that they were in fact PS2's so I assumed that they all had 'em. Must have been changed by the owner. These wheels are noticably heavier - Jangy would hate them - but the car still stays pretty stiff on turn-in and the added inch helps a little. IMO they're the best looking wheels for this car too.

Jangy does hate them. One, because 295s rub hard and second the weight, and third the 19" size. I'll give it to them as the best looking and the color matches up to my Obsidian nicely!!

Check with mbamg06e55 on those rims. He tried the 18" SL rims (et33) and still had rubbing. I don't see how 19s would be anything but worse. Now, he didn't try 275s but neither would I!!!

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
I assume the rears are the 31 offsets?

If lowered you WILL rub with 285's.

If not lowered it will catch on occasion but only slightly with 285's. I can live with it and tyres are hardly showing any signs of wear from this. With 275's its all fine not lowered - and possibly lowered too.

A mild fender roll will cure the 285's problem and if you want to lower the car and run 285's you will need an agressive fender roll or a min 35 offset.

Also what width are the rims? ... if they are 10" you will need a bigger offset. Mine are 9.5" and 31 offset and 285's JUST fit with very occasional rubbing on compression (not lowered).
