What is best year for E55 AMG in terms of dyno?

I am in the market for W211 E55 AMG, and I wanted to know the difference between 2004, 2005 and 2006 models in terms of dyno...

Which model year tend to dyno higher as stock (on average)?

What are the differences between each model year in terms of powertrain, suspension, transmission, electronics, etc...

Any differences in terms of being easier to mod?

Thanks for your help...

They all differ.........any year can be a hi/low dynoed car.Its just plain luck,or how the car is broken in.
Most people say the 03/04 yeild the highest dynoed hp,and is more tunable, but then again i have seen some 05/06 display some high dyno numbers.

Dyno-wise I think the 03-04s were the strongest, but NOT as tunable as the new ones. Also, keep in mind that the newer ones (especially '06) have the 219 (CLS) suspension components. Also, there seems to be less issues with tuning the ECU, etc of the newer ones.

So the 2003, 2004 models have different suspension than 2005, 2006 models ???

Is W219 suspension better?

Any more differences in terms of drivetrain, transmission, ABC, etc...

W219 is just newer. They launched with the newer suspension parts. Once the "older" ones were used up, the E was converted over to them. Many of the parts on the E now have part numbers beginning with 219.

Yes, the 03 - 04 has different suspension than '06.

How about suspension in 2005 models ?

The suspension parts began to filter in with the '05s. They trickle until late '06 when they have them all.

You really have to check the VIN to tell for sure and you may only care about certain things (like the steering rack). For me, it was all important, so I got the latest build '06 I could find.

Having had an '04, '05, and '06 E I can tell you there are differences that are noted.

Try to find an E55 that hasn't had the ECU reflashed. It seems as though alot of the forum members lost HP in the 03-04's due to the reflash. Just another piece of info before you take the plunge

Yes, from the VIN. You need a patient dealership that will go through each part with you. You can get the VIN (Ebay or here) on a "newer E55 and do a comparison to see what is same and what is not.

I did the excercise between mine and an '06CLS55 and an '07CLS55 just to know. That's why i laugh at all the talk of 2000 new parts on the E63 and them being suspension related.
