Leaning toward the 19" Volks as they are light and strong and I think would not look out of place on the E55 (AMG'ish look with some dish)...and 8-10 lbs lighter per corner.

After searching the forums I find it a bit strange that a lot of people say Volk/Rays are great wheels but how can you put a JDM wheel on a Merc. or Euro car...its like putting a Brabus wheel on a Lexus. My argument is couldn't you say the same thing on just about every wheel manufacturer, incl. HRE.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with putting Volks on a Benz,as long as it looks good. Quite a few forum members have Japanese wheels, although they run towards VIP style vs tuners style. Maya and Work wheels quickly come to mind.
As for Volks on a European car, I had some LE37T's on my M3 in a very aggressive offset (19x10.5 +22 offset on rear) and lowered on coilovers. It had one of the meanest stances of any car I've owned. I miss that car sometimes...then I mash the throttle on the E55 and all is forgotten, lol. I went with 3-piece Iforged on my E55, but if Volk made some wheels in a good size and offset, I might have gone that route instead.

I know what you mean about the VIP v Tuner styles. I got offered these Work RS II 3 piece forged yesterday (local shop) but its just not my style. Found this in English.

Let's not forget BBS is made in Japan. NOBODY ever comments about BBS being on MANY Euro cars.

If the wheel looks good I say go for it.

Do you have any pics of the M3?

Hey Kiwie,

I have asked our guy about this.

Otherwise, he recommends on the Progressiv's;

Front
19x8.5 35et

Rear
19x9.5 43et

Thanks Jeremy. I really wanted the Progressiv 'spoke', the 'ME' and 'TE' don't do it for me.

Also, I'm a bit confused on the correct offsets for the E55. I have the Kleemann ELM. Front everyone agrees on 19x8.5 ET35, but on the rear what is the correct offset for a 9.5, 10 and 10.5.. Thanks.

I've been told to check out another Japanese company. They are manufactured by 'Work'. Top quality I've been told. Lots of different finishes etc to choose from.

For the rear, it depends if you want to use a spacer as well or not.

I think Work Meister S1 would look awesome on the W211, I'm just not sure if they have the correct fitment for our application. I'm a sucker for 5 spoke rims.

Yep, there reason was not enough sales. I like forged monoblock and 5 spokes (thin as like to see the brakes)..thats why I've decided on CCW. (and you cannot beat the value for money) Check the vette and viper forums...nobody has a bad thing to say about CCW.

These wheels (used by lots of Audi folks -- 66.7 center bore, 57.1 hubcentric for B5s)

weight:
19x8.5 - 21.37 lb
19x9.5 - 22.27 lb
which is even lighter than BBS RS-GTs.

Q: do the above offsets fit E55? I did the 1010 offset calculators, and the fronts would lose about 11mm of clearance. The front calipers don't look like they have .43" of clearance to give. I'm asking because a set recently came up for sale, and it's a lot cheaper than going HREs/BBS.

FWIW, they look something like this:

The rears sport a nice concavity which none of the OZs do. Also double checked current tirerack.com offerings, currently, there's no fitting OZ (using SL/CLS or E55 fitment) that is lighter than the Volk ME. I've seen various OZs on E55s, they look nothing like these wheels. Thanks for your input, but does anyone actually know if the above offset would work on e55?

And calling Volks "clones" is just...

from what i can see in the pic posted in the previous message those are not volks wheels? they look exactly like oz ultraleggera wheels... even the font of the text in the wheel is same as the oz's, but from what i can tell, the wheel's say "rays" or something like that

these below are the OZ's... note the similarity of them to the wheel pic you posted and why i said the photo of the other wheels in you post are OZ clones... never said volks are oz clones

What are you talking about? Rays manufacturers Volks. Rays is the manufacturer, VOLK is the brand, Progressive ME is the model. Can you just stop replying? Your responses are obfuscating.

The pix which I linked above are Volk Progressive ME's. They were also sold under Prodrive as "GC-014i".

Definitely need help with fitment. I don't know if 19x8.5 +31 would clear the front E55 calipers...

oh sorry mr tokyo drift, i dont keep up with all the ricer japanese products... but yeah you should totally get them and neon lights and a giant spoiler too to put on a benz- that would be super classy

oh and last time i checked 20.6 lbs for the 19 oz is lighter than the 21-22lbs you listed for the other wheels

Why do you persistently insist on being wrong?

Tirerack, now the only OZ distro in USA, does NOT show any staggered 19" OZ Ultraleggera for E55/CLS/SL

No wonder people tell you to STFU on this board.

And you're going to get all racial cuz someone's looking for Japanese rims? Are you kidding, Mr. Crotch rocket Kawi green?
