Belt Tensioner Pulley & other questions
when I turn on the A/C or heat in my W210 E55, the belt squeaks. Sometimes, its very loud, sometimes its not, but it squeaks most of the time. I had it checked out at the dealer as I was getting my side marker fixed and he said the belt tensioner pulley has to be changed. He quoted around $250 including labor. I am due for Service A in 1500 miles, so I chose to ignore it for now.
1. Is the dealer making sense? Is there a way to "cure" the squeak without replacing the pulley?
2. What exactly is done in a W210 Service A? I change the oil myself and get the tires rotated at PepBoys (My tires are all the same size. They are called Icebear or something). Do I still need a Service A? I am at 50,200 miles.
3. My rear electric sunshade doesn't fold down completely. The arms fold down all the way but the fabric is frayed. Any way to fix this without replacing the whole thing? Dealer wants $400 including labor.
4. The passenger side mirror doesn't dim? Dealer had my VIN checked out and said only rear view and driver's side are supposed to auto dim. True?
5. My CD changer magazine is busted. I see replacements on ebay for $30 shipped. Can I put them in myself?
