I've had my MP Designs Steering wheel for a couple of years and have 2 cracks in the finish. One occurred soon after I got it and the other today. I know I lot of members have these wheels, can they be repaired? Refinished? Or do I just have to replace it. The dealer that I bought it from is long gone.

 

Had my MP Designs wheel develop a crack at the top. I emailed MP Designs in Germany and they advised me of my local MP Designs dealer. I took the wheel to them and they shipped it back to Germany. Two weeks later I got a call and my new replacement wheel had arrived free of charge.

I would do the same if I were you. I bet they will warranty the wheel as they did in my case.

great customer service aside, that's a huge inconvenience. does this happen often with these wheels? do they give you a loaner wheel for two weeks?

 

No loaner. Luckily I had my stock wheel stored away and used it for the two weeks.

I have heard of a couple people whose MP design wheels had cracked. I also know many people whose OEM wood wheels cracked.

Heat and Cold, especially sun and heat are a great enemy of wood. I now use a sunshade daily when I park outside at work to help block the heat and Infrared.

As a side note I had my OEM wood ashtray cover crack about 6 months beofre the wheel did. Replaced under Mercedes warranty.
