Best track helmet?

MBWorld Fanatic!
i'm sure for road racing weight and comfort makes a difference but for 1/4mile runs as long as it's snell/dot/ce approved who cares since it's not worn long enough to matter.
i just use my suomy motorcycle helmet.

I use a Simpson Super Voyager (pic). It provides excellent visibility for a road course plus its pretty light. Around $400.
You might want to look at the Arai GPS-W too. I used one a few times and loved it. Very comfortable.

I have two helmets - the same Simpson Bandit as Wayne - same color and same tinted shield, but the best helmet in my opinion is the Arai GP5 - I have the new model, GP5K with the wider eyeport - perfect for saloon cars and it gives you just that little bit of extra peripheral vision which you need when you head is constrained by your HANS device

I like the Arai as well. That is what I've always used on my Motorcycles. Visibility is definitely a key feature. i don't do anything too crazy, yet. I'll get another when i do. I just want to have a handy dandy helmet for track days, etc. I would like the option for a radio, but I think they all do that. I am planning on participating in more track rentals, like the one symbolic just threw at Willow Springs. For the money, you just can't beat the thrill AND safety compared to canyon running.

My next Helmet's going to be a Stand21.
They are sooo light! And expensive too.

I used an Arai full face at the track and it was really great. The only complaint would be wind noise with the windows down, but that is just life with any helmet. My neck definitely got sore, but that probably has to do with turns 8&9. I don't know why, but I just don't feel comfy in an open face.

Be wary of "M" rated helmets, as some tracks won't let you run with them. These are for motorcycles, and generally rated for a single impact. The SA- and SN- rated for cars are tested for multiple impacts, such as when you roll over and bash your skull all around the inside of the car.
It's your head-decide wisely.
