-10 C mod?

Heys guys. New to the MB world, always had BMW's. M5, and M3. Just picked up an 05 E55, and was wondering how i can go about doin the -10 C mod ive been reading about. Ive so far done the K&N filters, Eisenmann Race, and snorkel mod. Have the eurorev CF front lip, and CF rear diffuser on order. As well as 20" Radenergie R10's. Great forum BTW.

Regards
Walter

my dealer did this with the Star Diagnostic System. Ask them nicely

The only draw back is that the car will run much cooler and the heater will not be as hot or as hot as fast. Secondly, the fan will come on earlier therefore will be louder.

Welcome Walter, I also had my fan mod done at the dealership. The key is you have to get in with one or a couple of techs

; Correction programming of the electric suction fan for engine or air conditioning
Temperature correction 12 :C
' : This correction is used for shifting the engine temperature dependence of the electric suction fan for engine or air conditioning.
The temperature correction acts addffively on a temperature curve.
A positive temperature correction means that the suction fan is switched on sooner by the amount of the correction value. A negative temperature correction results in the suction fan being switched on later.
F3: Base value of the temperature correction F4: Reduce temperature correction value. F5: Increase temperature correction value.

you may also want to search 160* mod , youmaynot want this now. it is usefull in the hot summer traffic

i didn't like the idea of a louder fan from it being turned up all the way all the time so i had the dealer turn mine up half way.... don't notice any difference in noise.

What happens if you go +5 instead of +10? Is the fan still louder/faster and just until it gets to 5 degree cooler? I have the 160 degree thermo. and it works great. I played with this using the secret menu on the A/C panel and setting it to #6 to show coolent temp. With the car just sitting at idle with NO A/C on the temp. will go to 93 C and then the fan will come on then the temp will drop 5 C and fan will shut off then to 93C again. But if I put the A/C on the temp will not go above 85 C (at idle) So for you 1/4 mile guys it may be a good idea to leave the A/C on until you are staging. (if you don't have the +10 mod done) Or, if you are in stop/go traffic leave your A/C on.

The snorkel mod is the larger diameter intake tube on the driver side. The original one is cripmed at the front where it draws air in. I got the larger one from the dealer, partr number A1130942182, cost me about $12. Ill have some pics up as soon as i get it back from the body shop. I hit a racoon and it cracked my front bumper, took out a foglight, and lower grill. So its there now getting that fixed, and all my spoilers , lip installed.Heres a pic of my previous m3. I have to say the E55 is a bit more fun, and grown up.

I have dome this -10C Fan mode and now its seems like every time I move slowly my FAN is working...Eventhough now its not too hot cold (max +5 c) the fan is working...my car seems to stay over 90C most of the time...

Would this cause an early FAN replacement or may smome thing is wrong ???
