Need help--Bogging due to traction control

Whenever I punch it from a red light or coming out of a entrance ramp, the ESP light flashes and the car boggs down like crazy. How can I eliminate this? Better tires, LSD? Right now I have PS2s, and in my opinion, they are not nearly sticky enough. Car spins through 1st and 2nd. Even hops on occassion when I punch it in 2nd at 50mph. Thinking of switching to Toyo Ra1s. Or maybe getting an LSD. My fear with getting the LSD is that I will spend the money and it will not eliminate the bogging.
Any thoughts?

Turn off the ESP. It will still work but allows a bit more spin before intruding. A little spin in the turns is quicker in my hands than allowing the ESP to do it's job. At the AMG challenge the fastest runs on the autocross were done with ESP off.

If I turn off esp and punch it in 1st at a stop I end up in the road sideways. Not very good for launching.

Gotta say....I really thought the Quaife would be a joke. In theory...it should be (most of the selling points are for circuit track guys "great coming out of corners" etc)....BUT IT JUST ISN'T!! I really REALLY love my Quaife.

With the kinda HP/TQ you are putting down Steve, you really need the LSD. I'm sure the flaming will be long and hard on how "LSD really isn't as good as we all say", but the 3 fastest AMG's in the US, SL65 in Scotts, DerekFSU and the mighty Malcolm all roll with LSD. Gotta be a reason anti LSD guys....gotta be a reason.

Tell the Kleeman d1ckhe*d to get his head out his own ar$e before he spews more **** like that....

There has never been 1 claim on the lifetime warranty on a Quaife ATB globally - ever! Well at least it says so on their website ... also they are an ISO9001 company. There are no comsumable parts in the Quaife ATB unlike KM who's clutchs wear out ...

Oh yes on the lifetime warranty ... ask him if kleemann will match that....

Sorry for the rant but this "Salesman" is trying to pull your pants down ...

Could it be with ESP?

I'm glad to hear someone else is having this problem. I have a stock 2003 E55with PS2's and have been experiencing tire spinning up to about 35 or so and severe wheel hop from time to time. At first I thought it was cooler temps but problem has persisted into the 60's. Someone suggested tire rubber may have hardened, but I don't think that's the reason since I just bought these tires 6 months ago. Since these cars "fly by wire", I'm thinking the problem is with ESP, but then I'm a little paranoid after the ECU reflash debacle.

i don't have wheel hop as much as side to side motion on hard accelleration when starting at anywhere between 30 to 55 mph. i am running new ps2's and was wondering if it would stop this problem with a lsd.

My "daily driver" tires are BFG KDWs. I have another pair of rear wheels in the garage with BFG DRs, but the KDWs do just fine along with the Quaife.

Everyone I've ever heard or seen speak poorly of a LSD in these cars didn't have one, so that should tell us all something right there.

A Quaife will help the side-to-side a little bit (as well as axle hop for those who have it, by not letting one side or the other completely unload) but for the swaying, toe-links seem to be the ticket, at least for me. HP Autowerks in Santa Barbara builds their own, custom setup (as well as other custom parts for our cars) and it made a WORLD of difference for me. Especiallywith the extra power and the DRs. Much better control of the rear end versus the stock toe links.

I had this hopping problem just before the diff mounting bolts sheered off. Check both rear mounting bolts to make sure there are no cracks or free spinning.

Let us know if you discover anything there.

Try Hoosier semi slicks for excellent street hook up.

Finny,
Sorry to hear about your car.. Glad that you were ok.. I assume you were able to fix it... Are those the Hoosier semi slicks in the picture. Do you think they are stickier than the Toyo Ra1s...
