TOP SPEED on after market Wheels
I was wondering whats the fastest people have gone on their 19 & 20 inch wheels...and what people think is the safest highspeed to travel on after market wheels specially with those low pros....

I've made a quick sprint to ~ 175 on my 20" HRE and to be totally honest, I was thinking about it the entire time (being on low pros) and slowed down immediately. I will periodically make quick sprints, but I rarely drive faster than 100mph on my 20"s.

Pushed circa 180 in my 65 ... on 20's (HRE 843's). I am a little more comfortable in my 65 at speeds over 140 because the ABC is solid. I never really worry about the tires because I am trusting with the PS2 build quality and as long as my air pressures are good. I wont run those high speeds on roads I dont know though or obviously in traffic.
I probably go at least 140+ 3 times daily in either my E55 (19's) or the 65 (20's). Not bragging just love the rush.

140+ scared the sh*t outta me on the 405s having fun with two bikes ...but then thought about the wheels and slowed down

140 was my max on the 19" Maya STMs. These rims are soft and they do bend easily, so I'll go easy on them (ask Vic, he had first hand experience with them before geeting the HRE Comps).
I had hit the speed limiter a few times when I went to get my windows tinted in southern Mass when I was running my stock rims with Blizzak snow tires.

ive done 150+ on tires that were so worn out that they were near slicks (sometimes you really gotta smoke fools )
i do 130+ on a daily basis in a much slower car than e55/cl65, its not that hard

No blocker but I have a V1 and the latest run was at 730am so the freeway was wide open (Saturday). There are some toll roads in the Orange County which are never busy so I take advantage of those. Normally there is no life to speed in Cali and I actually have chose my most recent place of employment in small regard to how fast I can drive there

Im actually pretty confident, I feel the sidewall is pretty thick on mine. 285/30 19 and 255/35 19. Dont remember my top speed though, probably like 120. It wasnt a fear of the tires, more of a fear of doing something stupid

isnt the speed rating of the tyre what you should be more concerned about? If your doing those sorts of speeds, your gonna want a nice smooth road no matter what wheels and tyres your running. I would think the safety requirements of these top end rims would make them safe enough considering they go on all kinds of very expensive cars and would be expected to see some speed.

Too high a speed to put in print!!
For those of you who are familiar with the aftermarket tuners......I hit the secondary limiter on 3 different occasions. After thinking about it.....I told Kleemann to put the primary speed limiter back on!!
Oh BTW - It was on CCW 19x9(F) and 19x10(R) with no issues!!

Wouldn't the rating of the tire be the issue and not its size? If its Z,W,Y, (or more) rated then does it matter if its low profile or not? Or are we only debating the likelihood of damage to the wheel and tire IF you hit something (or is that WHEN you hit something )
...either way I think trying to go over 150 on USA roads is crazy as most of 'em are so badly maintained that they are death traps above this speed. As to going higher (175+) well I hope you have the room to stop when you need to. (in some states like Arizona maybe...)
Around here with bad roads cops and crazy drivers, just getting to the regular limiter at 155 is a knuckle bitting experience...and one that is just as fast as 175+ (at going to jail that is)

Funny you still remember that stuff, I wasnt really even speeding just caught a bad pot hole on the 405 and the wheel bent. I didnt even know I bent it until I went to change the tires- the bend was on the inside and I had another inside bend on the rear wheel. The Mayas while pretty sure are weak.

I've talked to a local rim repair shop called Rimpro and the guys said that Maya rims are prone to bend on the inside. You just need to hit a small pot hole at the right angle, and then bam your rims are bent. Also, the "chrome" lip should NOT be cleaned with a chrome cleaner or it will tarnish the finish. Yeah, it's pretty retarded if you ask me.
I'll probably be selling my Maya's and move on to a set of HRE 597R or 590R (depends on if I go for a p-car or not).
