RennTech vs. Kleeman - Round 2

Finally, Josh and I were able to do some dyno pulls last night at Dynojet here in Las Vegas. First off, I want to thank Ross for hooking us up and for Carl staying late after work to do the pulls. As you may or may not know, Dynojet is not open to the public so it's nice to have some connections. Here's my graph. I'm pleased with the numbers since RennTech posts 485.1 rhp and 521 trq. for the Stage 5. I did 484.5/542.69. The torque number was actually higher than the torque for the RennTech Stage 6. The other thing to note, RennTech uses Dynojet equipment so I'm not surprised at the numbers. I posted the RennTech dyno below. It looks like my HP peaks sooner as does my torque.

I'll let Josh post his graph so you'll have to wait for the results. Is it Kleeman 2 - RennTech 0 or will there be a rubber match???

Where did the 391 Stock HP number come from?

Was this your car? That is crazy low for an E55......

I don't have the answer to that...but, Dynojet equipment and software is pretty well respected in the industry. Although, you never know what numbers a manufacturer is going to show to promote a product.

The "stock" vehicle was not mine. However, the V.P. of Dynojet in Las Vegas owns a stock E55 and supposedly, they were going to dyno it today. That would give us a nice baseline for that particular dyno so I'll let you know when they provide me the information.

As you all know it is very hard to compare dyno's across facilities ect.

Most E55's that I have seen run on a dynojet put down 420 to 425 RWHP stock.

In a case last year where we ran three E55's and a CLS55 back to back we saw all 4 within 10 HP of each other between 415 and 425.

The best course here is to do a pre and post dyno run on the same dyno with as similar conditions as possible. Then you should be able to judge your gains.

Adam,

I wish you guys were closer to Las Vegas. I would love to see your shop. I used to spend a ton of time in the Bay area but really don't want to drive my car that far away.

Here's my dyno... as you can see, fuel curve is not very smooth and running very rich. I'm going to be sending my ECU to Kleemann to work out the fuel mappings.

In addition to that, I'm not entirely sure this dyno was a true reflection of the power that I'm really putting down based on the simply fact that the technician couldn't get my car to stay in gear (keep trying to downsift). Yes, the car was in dyno mode. Which means that tech had to avoid pressing the throttle all the way to the floor and had to ease into the throttle so it didn't downshift on him. He must have made like 15 attempts... which made my car very hot w/ only a few successfull runs. Not at all trying to make excuses, just telling the facts. One thing positive though, my car was very consistent.

Looks like the score is tied at Kleemann 1 (on the road) - Renntech 1 (on the dyno)

OK, enough jibberish... here is the dyno.

I really don't know that much about the air-fuel reading but according to the guy who did the dyno, my car is "dialed in." Maybe someone on the forum can respond.

The same exact thing happened to my car when we dynoed it last. It kept trying to downshift...that is until I noticed that the car was not in Manual mode. You have to dyno the car in Manual mode or else it will downshift when the tech floors it on the dyno.

Yeah, a lot of Las Vegas residents said that too Hopefully one day, EuroElites will have a second location in Las Vegas.

The dyno challenge is like the regular season in football, it counts but a lesser victorious team can still be the world champ. To me the road test is the world series and lets see who takes the best of seven. Power is great on paper but he who gets it to the pavement quicker and more efficiently wins IMO.

If you follow that thought process it truely would not be Kleeman vs. Renntech... It would be Kleeman + JOsh vs. Renntech + Rudy. Driving exprience counts on the quarter mile unless you are talking about rolling start, which will still have some kind of driver influence to it....

Yes, the driver is always a factor- thats why I said "he" who gets the power down ....

This should be fun, two friends battling it out. We should do this in Cali- I am stage 2 Evosport with bald tires- lets gooooooooooo

I'm sure Josh and I will get some more runs in the near future. Neither of us are very shy about seeing what the cars will do. Hopefully this time I'll have a "working" camera. Stay tuned.
