01-02 E55 question (compared to E430)?
hi folks, i own a 97 E420 and will be looking at getting another E-class, prolly 01-02 E430 or E55. I'm wondering though, aside from the obvious engine upgrades, what are the other differences? the more detailed & technical the better.
bigger brakes?
different suspension setup?
interior trim? (does the E55 get special leather/trim material?)
any E55-exclusive options?
finally, in terms of reliability are the 2 cars about the same?

'06 E55, '05 SLK55, a few others
The AMG cars get bigger brakes, wheels, different transmission, suspension, steering wheel, seats, body work, Xenon's become standard, etc. They all have the same issues as far as reliability. The only thing you could get in a non-AMG car is the wheels and body work (sport option). Nothing else could have been bought or added unless you did it yourself. Quite a different feel between my '02 E430 and '02 E55.
