Take them off before you turn it in,unless you dont mind losing out on the money. The techs like to see cars come in with mods, they take all the goodies off before they send it to auction.

Too true. MB uses those rates and rebates to move inventory. That, added to the fact that I was paying twice the money factor had me paying double the interest I am now PLUS the fact that I decided not to wait on the E63 made it a no-brainer for me. And oh yeah, the truth is I had to have the active seats.
The current rates are what they are. They aren't as high as I've seen, but they aren't anything special either. The rebates may be slightly higher.

LOL, you won't like the answer. I have always turned my cars in (traded, not lease returned) before my lease expires, or bought the car out. That is why I don't care about miles or mods. Other than that you need to be careful that you can get the car back to OEM (or as close as possible) if you plan to really return it and walk away. Keep your rims, etc so you can swap em back out and then just sell them off cheap. Other than that, little things, like resonator removal, etc is not an issue. Engine mods may be.

Thanks for the response, my plan has been to either buy at end of lease or get something else before end of lease. Actually when I leased the car in March it was because I could not stand my E500 anymore and MB was doing the lease special on the E55 and I did not want to wait for the E63 so I figured I would get the E55 and end the lease early if feedback on the E63 was good. After the issues with the E500 I am very hesistant to take possession of 1st year model car. But I am loving the E55 so I will be driving it for a little while longer
If I do ok on the twisties

Take a look at the leasing & financing forum on this site for the Mercedes lease rates for January 2007. That will give you a pretty good idea of your costs and residuals. Note the current "money factors" (which is lease talk for intgerest costs.) and "residuals" (which is lease talk for depreciation). A couple of variables that those charts don't show is any "special" MB might be offering to move certain slower moving models, and the savings resulting from any price discount on the car(called "captialized cost" in lease talk) which one is able to negotiate .

Hehe..been out of town and it looks like my post got some activity. A Big THANKS to everyone with their input. Looks like I'm probably better off looking at E63's if I'm gonna lease one...otherwise look at taking over someone's lease.
I just got rid of my EVO so I need to fill the "GAP" with an upgrade to my E!!

Evo to an E63?? You want my advice? Don't be car poor... If you have a $1,500+ car payment. You should be making at least $10,000/month(consistently).. Please dont take offense. but an Evo to an E63 is a hullva jump. I see guys that live in their cars. dont be one of them.

Understood. Many people extend themselves beyond their means. By the same token, I have learned NOT to judge people by the cars they drive. I know plenty of E55 owners that were driving Honda Accords before. There is a leap involved, but they also have plenty of payroll to do it. Heck, my uncle is flat loaded and still drives my cousin's used Toyota Camry with almost 200K miles on it.
For me, I got kids and a wife (I think), so living in the car isn't really feasible.

e63...
Let's flush out a real deal to lease this car. Word is they are flooded now in the market. MB in OKC says no but they get a peanut allocation of these cars. If they get anything they try to make a buttload. What can the car be leased for since it is no longer such a novelty? Any thoughts on where to check?
