I searched but with no satisfying answers. When turning at very low speeds (say up to 15 mph) when I turn the wheel I get a squaek (sounds like right side?) anyways I do have the Renn Tech ELM (installed by RennTech themselves) and I am wondering if it is related - Jangy (or anyone else) I know you have the RELM can you provide any insight? I still need to shut off the ELM and test if the squaek still occurs to rule that out as a contributor......thanks very much!

I had that problem, took it in to the dealer, and they replace the whole steering rack. Just take it in, they'll take care of it.

I've had no experience regarding squeaking. The only thing I noted with the ELM is that the tires actually grabbed harder, so i heard tires SQUEaking in parking lots, etc as i turned the wheel. Try to see if you can hear where the "squeak" is coming from. Is your ELM "exposed" or tucked away. If exposed, then just shut it off and see what happens. Even if it goes away, you need to keep in mind that the ELM may have simply been bringing a rub out that only occurs at certain suspension angles, etc.
A new steering rack would be nice! Make sure you can duplicate the issue and describe it nicely so the dealer has no issues.

How many miles on the vehicle?
First two things I would check would be the P/S rack and the thrust arms (bushings and ball joints).

Thanks guys, the car has 7,000 miles.....the ELM is hidden, will be shutting it off and checking this weekend, my only concern is what if it is only occuring with the ELM on......I guess I'd have to live with it, oh yeah, it's definitely not tire squeal - thanks for all your input!

If it only does it with ELM on, then try to duplicate that compression (like on a hill, or with passengers) to see if you can duplicate it that way.Originally Posted by Nate55
