Whining Noise from engine
Is there anyone out there that has the same problem as i do. When i start up the car in the morning it has a very high pitched whining noise. Sounds like its coming from the belt but not 100%. What do you guys think? Btw i have about 41,500 miles on the odometer...maybe its normal wear and tear? thanks,

Bet Finny is right...you will hear it run for a while and shut off....if you idle a long time you will hear it cycle too....I thought it was a P/S pump so I brought it up when I serviced the car this summer. It was the smog pump.

mine has done this since new. not sure if its the same whine as you describe tho. Whenever its cold from first start it whines for maybe 20 secs? then just quickly fades out and you just hear the engine.
