First off, I am new to the forum, this is my first post.

So I found an E55 and had the car inspected yesterday and everything came back really good. So I call the place in Miami this morning and tell them that I want to buy the car.... And I get an email with 5 pics in there... And the car was rear-ended. Apparently, after he got confirmation that I was going to buy the car, the guy took the car to get an oil change and got rear-ended. I am devastated, but still want he car.... What do yo uguys think???

as i have heard read numerous time the paint with a C in the code can not be matched outside the factory.

Yea, I've heard. This totally sucks! My heart was set on this car. I've been thinking about asking for a discount and they pay to have the car fixed at a high-end place.... What do you think?

I would have bought it if it was only the bumper and light but not in this case since the rear fender needs repainting and thats always a ***** as a perfect match is never possible.

My advice is NO but if its ok with u... go for it.

oh man that sucks i would only take the car now if they gave a discount and fixed the car. i would have them fix it first and if you are ok with it then get your discount and be on your way. if you dont like the job they do them dont buy it! good luck and like others have said there are more out there.

Thanks guys! I am devastated!!! I think since the guy knew that the car was sold, he could take it out and cruise around in a bit. Yea, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have it fixed and then check it out again. With that quarter panel, it seems like they are going to have to cut it and replace the quarter panel to get it done right.

I am not having a whole lot of luck with the E55. Last two I found and actually sold my S2000 for, ended up selling the car the same day I sold mine. I've been stuck without a car and it seems like its going to be longer now. So frustrated.... Anyone in the Bay Area, CA wanna take me out for a ride???

Plus, isn't it strange to see a minor damage but the car got towed? If it's indeed minor, why didn't they just drive the car back to the dealer?

I wonder how the front looked like.... it may have been messed up also but they just didn't show it.

I thought so too... But they drove the car back to the lot and had it towed to mercedes because everything was covered from insurance... Not sure, but i will await the insurance appraisal and from mercedes to see what the damages are.

I would say go for it, the seller should obviously offer some compensation and it may be come out to favor you well. If it is in the Miami area, I am sure there are body shops that see stuff much higher end than a Mercedes...As these cars age with Nano paint bumpers, hoods, etc... they will have to be resprayed as the miles add on. My friend purchased a new S550 same situation they scratched the rear door, after it was fixed no one could possibly tell it has been resprayed. This nano paint matching maybe more of a scare than reality.

I wouldnt even think of it now.there are WAY too many E55s out there for sale to be considering a car that know has body damage done too it.

Even if a huge discount is offered why do it?

People are acting as if this car is totalled out, its minor damage, i'm sure the quarter panel can be saved, new tail light, and new bumper cover. I agree with previous replies to stay away if the seller offers no reasonable discount. If you pass on it let me know, I maybe interested... thanks...

Dude I don't know what you're complaining about. You just got a $10,000 discount excuse as far as I am concerned and I am sure they can match the paint past your eyes capability to detect it.

+ most of the damage coast is going to be only that panel behind the door... i would try to get more pictures of all around car and possibly have them take it to get inspected to see if anything els got off set on the car.... it does not look that bad just bumper rear panel tail light and possibly other things but i think its a great chance to punch him in for a low price !

Why would you buy a wrecked car that is currently flooding the market? Please don't. the wreck and any signs of it will always haunt you. Get a nice one that was a lease return.
