K&N vs. Green

I have always run K&N drop-in filters on my previous cars without incident. I hear the AMGers favor Green Filters. Poll: Which did you go with and where did you purchase from?

Thanks,
Mike

Hey NGS, I am also a newbie, just picked up my E63 today...but I did have K&N and green filters on an '05 Viper. On the Viper both filters were very similar...very little difference on the dyno and impossible to tell by 'seat of the pants feel" now whether the case is the same for the E55/E63 I don't know . But hopefully someone with experience with them on these cars will let us know...

P.S. I kept the green filters on the Viper.

I believe the main issue with Mercedes vehicles is the oil on the filters. Green uses less then K&N, and people have had issues with K&N filters messing with the MAF. That's why most Mercedes owners choose Green I think.

do a search because there is a lot of discussion before on this.

What I found was that the green filter may have slightly more air flow. But the worst part is that some people found that the green filter will fall down below where it is seated over a short period of time!! This potentially allows big particles to go into your $54K motor!!

The K&N filter seems to be the brand name more reliable filter with good air flow. This is what I put on.

Guys,

Dont forget the BMC filters! I think BMC is comparable to K&N, maybe slightly better.

Green. Seems the people who had the filters fail were a bad batch. You will see slightly more HP with green. But lets face it, the HP we are talking about cannot be felt and only seen on a dyno. These are only replacement filters for a car with failrly decent filters stock. So if you are expecting to feel like you just added another supercharger to the car after you installed either, think again.

ITG filters out of England. Don't buy unless you want the best possible air filter for your E55.

I can tell you i DID notice about 5-10hp. I noticed a HUGE difference in sound, and again a difference in throttle.

My oem filters were so dirty is was crazy. there was huge pieces of wood, dead bees, sand, and so much dirt, the filter was 100% used.

I know that my filters were very dirty, and thats what made the difference, but wow i cant believe what a change it made.

Yeah,

Eurotech is the place for these goods.

Do not expect any increase in power. I ran my car before and after this addition and they made absolutely no difference. There is a thread somewhere around here on that topic.

My advise: Buy them because they are green and look cool but not because you think they'll make you go faster.

i have green's on my C32..

with the resonator delete and the filters.. its makes a slight difference..

on my E55 I'll probably will try K&N.

The greens never did fit perfectly on the C32 airboxes and this can mean trouble down the road.
