Well second day in the E63 and the keys have to be pryed from hands. Never thought I could have sooo much fun with an automatic. Car sounds awesome. Big surprise is the 7-speed tranny. It's as if it knows when you want to shift..almost exactly the same time as if you were shifting a manual yourself. Still haven't pushed her yet but it is so tempting...few more miles.
Only one beef. Everytime I go to make a right hand turn I hit the cruise control stalk. Probably wouldn't have placed it there.
Oh yeh, one more problem. MY wife wants to take it out Thur. (Sorry hunny,
I think it will be in the garage with a coat of polish on her..wink, wink!!)

2005 E55, 2004 E55(sold), 2001 Viper GTS, 2006 Viper VOI9, 1994 ZR-1 Corvette 2009 Viper ACR,
I have not driven a 63 yet. But I know when I first got my E55, I could not stop driving it. I had the same problem with my wife, she wanted to drive it all the time too. Congrats!!! I saw the other post, you did well on the lease.. When the E55's first came out, my dealer was in the $17-$1800's. with $5k down.
PS-I also have a 2001 ViperGTS. They are fun cars. Ever since I became a father, I just dont have time to use it. The car has been sitting in the garage. 2001 w/ 13,000 miles.. That goes to show you how much I drive it.. Was thinking about selling it...

So glad you like it. The AMG trannys are very nicely tuned for my liking. I love that it holds at 3K RPMs when it knows you are needing the power!!
Just do me one favor. Break it in gently. Keep the revs shifting. Don't just hold a speed for a bit, so that you don't get it worn into a "spot".
Also, slowly introduce power to the drivetrain. Gently add revs until you finally get to 1000miles. Then start to open it up.
ENJOY!!

Congradulations for the purchase! The E63 along with the SLK55 were my personal favorites at the AMG Challenge in Miami. It handles better than the E55 and the 7speed trany shifts much faster. The 55 felt more powerfull in the low rpms but the E63 showed its character after 4k+ rpms. Very nice car, the handling was very impressive considering it is a 4door car. Car & Driver magazine did a drive test comparing it with the Audi S6 and the latest M5 (manual transmission) and rated it the best car out of the three. Enjoy it!

Btw, since you mentioned the cruise control stalk in a bad place, i see you also have a Viper, i don't think anything is in as bad of a place as the windsheild wiper stalk on that car, everytime i make a hard turn i put my wipers on!
