Question Need advice on a purchase please

So I found a one-owner 2003 (lease return) with 30k miles Black on Black bone stock with warranty until Aug 07. Carfax is clean. The car drives well and is tight and strong. Does not seem to have been abused. All panels are original paint and road rash on the nose is at a minimum. The car looks new inside and is very lightly optioned. I can grab it for $47k. What are your thoughts on the price?
TIA-

High..

Sounds a little high to me..

Here are the current auction prices..

12/21/06 DFW Lease $40,750 27,239 Avg BRI SIL 8G A Yes
01/31/07 W PALM Lease $44,200 31,513 Avg ALB WHT 8G A Yes
01/10/07 SEATTLE Lease $42,500 32,885 Avg BLACK 8G A Yes
02/01/07 RIVRSIDE Regular $41,500 38,071 Avg BLK OPL 8G A Yes
12/21/06 ATLANTA Lease $41,000 38,983 Avg

One owner and extremely clean gets a premium price but 47k is high.. Try negotiating a little more.

I'm sure the owner would love you to "grab" it at that price, but in my opinion It's way too high. I would certainly op for an 04' for a similar price. You should be able to snag one this time of year.

Man where are you getting these prices at? Dealer auction? I have been searching everywhere and I cant find anywhere lower than 47k with around 38k miles. I think 47 is a bit high too since i plan to keep it for a year and the new body style is not too far off.

Those are Manheim Auction prices. They are true and correct.

Cars that are at auctions are usually the ones that dealers could not or are not willing to sell.

It is the very bottom of the market.

If you like the car, $47K is just about right for 2003.

Ii have a dealer friend and he was suppose to search for me but he never comes through. Last time I was looking for my 911 I ended finding it for myself. He told me there was one in atlanta at the auction that went for around 43 with 38k miles. I dont plan to keep the car for too long so im trying to find one as cheap as possible. Anyone who has a lead please tell me!

Thanks
Vince

I buy at auctions all over the country on manheim simulcast...I set a search for the type of car I am looking for, weed out the bad and watch the auctions from the comfort of my desk...My current e55 came from auction in Florida and it is not bottom of the barrel...It was an MB Financial car. Cars that run through auctions are very well inspected and most flaws are disclosed....

I was recently watching an 05 with 17k miles on it run through a mb lemon sale in cali....it was buyback for an odor and radio issues....it was a great buy with lowenharts, ipod, sirius, nav, and more at 51......

Its currently on ebay for 59 with hardly a mention of its lemon past....Gotta love ebay

My experience is that if you have time you can find a better deal than auction from private party. The advantage of buying from a dealer (if you can find an honest guy like Vadim) is that he'll stand behind the car. IMO $47K is not a bad deal if the car is as good as you say it is and it's local. Good luck.

LOL. You'd have to shoot me silly to offer $45 for a lightly optioned '03!!

Don't do it!!

I picked up 03 47k miles for $39.5 but traded in for 06

and the dealer bought it back for $41,500. <$42,500 would be a decent deal.

Problem with Manheim is that you have to be a member. 42500 for a lightly loaded 03? I would take that in a heartbeat if it had less than 40k miles. Ive been searching on the autotrader and everyone is asking for 47k plus for a lightly loaded 03. KBB is around that price atleast in my zip code.

One more thing. Does lemon buyback show up on the title?

Thanks
Vince

since it was a california car, if reregistered in cali the title will always be branded, if you switch states the title will clean itself....however it will always be on carfax..

i own a car rental company and have been buying at auction for years...i have bought several lemon cars for my own fleet and have always been fine on resale
