2005 E55 mine -2006 BMW 550i wifes
Angry 2005 E55 - face lift -will E63 bumper and grill bolt on?

damaged my 2005 E55 front end........

Major bummer, Last night on the fwy running with traffic at 60-65 and the car in front of me runs over a truck retread skin and spits it out right in front of me, can't go right or left because of traffic so run over...ripped my Carlsson lip spoiler to shreds and broke my front end front from the right fog light to the middle and then wacked the side near the rear quarter panel. Looks like all my damage is front end and the side just needs cleaning off of black scuffs. Totally depressing considering not a scratch on my ride until now...This is the 3rd tire tread I have hit this past year. Once in my wifes brand new BMW 550i, luckly just scuffed it up and not damaged...friggen truck retreads..also with my 300C and dented the side drivers door on that mishap...anyways. My 2005 E55 will need a new front end so....

The question is now that I will need a new front end I am considering AFTERMARKET..or any ideas from the board members....please post any suggestions and pics if you have had to change or upgraded your front end...
also, pros and cons with aftermarket on resale value.......Will my insurance allow aftermarket??? and will the Carlsson lip spoiler be included in estimate...that's over $1000 by itself....damn..I am thinking around $5k in repairs, maybe more...I will post the estimate by local shop later today with pics of damage....I changed the name of this post to attact attention and if any one has upgraded there E55 to an E63 via a face lift???

Whether or not the carlsson lip will be covered is a good question. I know with state farm they told me their policy is that as long as I take pictures to prove the mods were on my car and keep all of the receipts I should be fine. However, if I do any extensive mods to the car (over 10k) I should tell them and my premium may increase as a result.

And insurance should allow you to replace the front bumper with aftermarket (Brabus). Its not really their choice. They are just giving you money to compensate you for the damages - what you spend that money on is up to you.

Go To Bells Auto Body in Costa Mesa aka Bruce Strauss

They will Work with you re the Bumper..

Go With the AMG E63 Front bumper..you will need the E63 grill also

The Brabus Items Do NOT Fit...Go Visit the Brabus/CEC showroom and look at the items installed ....as My Neighbor was going for the Full body kit on a W221 Until he saw the way the bumpers were fitted...He is now going AMG!

also Most Other AFTERMARKET Items are fiber glass...They dont bend!

Good info here

Thanks for the heads up...

I thought about the e63 upgrade...but my E55 has active cruise and wonder if the new grill is a major component and worth the added expenses???

Anyways I may just do the E63 look since it is covered...I'll call the Costa Mesa shop and see...
