Oil Level Sensor

Oil Level Sensor
I got the following mssg IN RED
"oil level check , Stop engine " somethin like that
so i check the oil level and it said " fill 2 litres "
which i did.
after that it said " oil level fine"
but now, i am still getting the mssg in RED and a malfunction which says
" oil level sensor is not working properly take it to the workshop"
will take it to the workshop but i was wondering is this something serious? has this ever happened to anyone?
any feedback would be greatly apreciated.

Yet another common failure in our cars. I had mine fail at about 4K miles, although it did not ask me to add oil, just "Oil sensor malfunction, visit workshop". It requires the entire under belly pan and the oil pan to be removed to get the sensor out and replace it. The only good thing about it was the free oil change.

My local dealer had my car overnight. They were not comfortable getting it done in one day, so I got a ML500 loaner in the morning and returned it the next afternoon. I would guess it depends on how busy they are.

I had the same issue too- the oil level was actually fine each time I shut the car down and did the test. I got worried as to which was correct, the warning or the test so I got it fixed- didnt want to ever put in too much oil.
One day fix with parts available. Free oil change too!

Honestly, my stress level is gone and i know now wat this is.
A side note : forums like these should be there for everything ,,, i mean everything... cars, marriage jobs... blah blah... lol
