Scott, got your message, sorry I was with another client.
With regard to this car. It looks pretty clean from the pixs. Service history is clean, it had A/C evaparator replaced and one new tire, that is about it. All recalls are completed and it has extended warranty CPO until 100,000 miles and 05/2011.
Have it examined prior to you signing papers. It could have damaged control arm from towing. I see it all the time.
Good Luck!

I spoke to Vadim.... Vadim, you're the man! Thanks for the advice, information, and help!!
I think I'm getting the car. The CPO through 05/2011 is HUGE, and I'm having it taken to a MB dealer to verify there is no damage and no wreck repair along w/ getting the alignment.
Thanks mbworld.org!

If it's CPO'd, you should have one less thing to worry... AFAIK, MBUSA would not CPO a car if it's been wrecked....
But still... you could offer the car w/ the price I suggested... and go from there. You could always go up...
Good luck...
BTW... I think you still owe me the name and price of the extended warranty (Not sure why I kept thinking "insurance" instead of "warranty") even though you don't need it anymore

In terms of alignment, if it pulls slightly to the right, that I believed is normal due to alignment spec by European numbers. You can do a search for a great deal more information. If it pulls to the left, that is something wrong and just ask the dealer to do an alignment to see if it can be fix easily.
After I lowered my car, this deminish a great deal.

zoink, I'll get the warranty company name when I get the car. Insurance and warranty is the same thing to me, so I knew what you meant.
Good point about the CPO meaning no wreck... I wasn't even thinking of that... duh.
tiger, it's more about the steering wheel being turned to the right when the car is going dead straight as much as it is about alignment.
They're taking the car to the nearest MB dealership tomorrow morning and they're fixing all that as well as checking for damaged tow arms or whatever that could cause the alignment issue.
Then I'm getting the windows tinted by the dealer and I pick up when I return to Houston on Saturday!
i'm pretty pumped about the car!
When I learned about the CPO through 2011, I was SOLD in my head. I called the dealer and played it cool. I put them through the paces on this sale. This is likely the best deal I've gotten on a car. They're giving me a ton on my trade and selling the car for a very reasonable price.

I have a very good friend whom I will definitely do that with... if he'll let me.
Here's a pic of his car and my car when they were both new...

Oh BTW, I just realized.... AFAIK, CPO (extended warranty) is likely to be cancelled if being sold from a non-MB dealer.
Since the dealer is a Volvo dealer, you'd better check w/ MBUSA whether the extended warranty is still valid. Vadim may be able to chime in also.
But still... even if the warranty is voided, this car was once CPO'd so prior wreck is very unlikely.
Good luck!

Give Smythe European in San Jose a call about the aftermarket warranty. I had my car brought in from a MB dealer in CO and got an additional 5 years up to 85K miles for a great price from Smythe. Didn't go with 100K miles as it the E is my fun car and after 1 year of owning it after buying it with 16K on it now only has 21K miles and its a 2004. You will be able to deal with them on the warranty as it is pure profit. I called Beschoff as well and they were 1K more for same warranty.

Hey Scott! You say the wheel is turned to the right, but it does track straight? Sounds like possibly the prior owner might of had a aftermarket steering wheel, and put the stock one back on, but didn't put it on straight. Simple fix remove wheel and line it back up. If it doesn't pull left or right, it sounds like thats the problem.

Wait, I may understand it wrong.... If it's all about the steering wheel alignment, when you let go the wheel, the car drives straight but the steering wheel is not straight.
When the car pulls to the right.... if you let go the wheel, you could see the car is not going straight regardless the position of the wheel.
I drove my E over I-5 last weekend... when I was near the intersection w/ I-580, the car severely pulled to the right after hitting a little pot-hole. I thought: "damn, I screwed up my alignment". Until I hit my regular highway (I-880) where I know how my other cars behave, I was relieved. The car is straight
Long story short.... I know it's obvious, but the car may pull to the right b/c of the road itself (tilted to the right) and/or winds. It's hard to tell when you're on the road unfamiliar to you.
Just my 2c.
