E63 impressions and questions
My E63 wagon has 400 miles now. I still haven't revved the engine past 5k rpm so can't comment on the power yet. Here are other comments:
Pros
- Exhaust sounds great, lots of bass and grunt
- Car handles quite flat without being firm even in hardest setting.
- Quality of materials quite good
- Tranny shifts seamlessly
- Fuel economy on freeway quite good (20mpg)
- 3rd row seating is better than nothing.
Cons
- Command interface is not very intuitive. I prefer iDrive even, or any interface with some kind of dial.
- Car does feel a little heavy, probably because it is
- Back seat is not that roomy
- The gauges are poorly laid out. The clock is too large and occupies too much space. There isn't any clock that the passengers could read. The tach is too small.
- Manual shifting is quite slow, no rev matchign on downshifts.
- Once I but a baby seat, I can't close the screen for the trunk.
- I already have the K2 option and there bluetooth is not even included???
Questions:
- How do I activate the parktronic? All of a sudden it seems to be off and I can't turn it back on. The manual has no mention of it.
- Is there any 3D view for the map (rather than just top down)?
- Is there a way to turn off the radio/CD when I have the other functions (map, navigation) turned on? I could only turn down the volume. Turning off the audio turns everything off.
- What other accessories do I need to have bluetooth?
- Does anyone recommend an oil change once the engine is broken in? The standard interval is too long.
- With the 3rd row seating, is it still possible to put a spare (space saver) tire? There seems to be some space under the seat.
I guess once I could unleash all the horses I will be more impressed.
Thanks,
Baron

There is no more (hidden) room for a SS spare tire with the 3rd row option.
Does your wagon actually have parktronic? Most don't so that would be pretty rare.
If you have the factory phone, you just need to buy the bluetooth puck from the dealer and you are set. It replaces the factory handset.

the Nav is 2003 technology, so you may need to adjust your standards.

You're right, I just noticed that the car doesn't have parktronic. I guess it was on the other car I drove. Wonder why parktronic is not more common on this far? It should come standard.

I agree, the wagon is a better candidate for parktronic than even the sedan.
There is an option for this, at least there used to be for the W210 wagon; you had to "special order" it from the factory. I don't think it was on the standard U.S. build list, but you could get it. Not sure if the 211 gets this. My 211 wagon (wife's) is already scuffed
Steve MBenzNL can probably install parktronic for you if you need it.
