Carbon Shifter Install
I ordered a Carbon Fiber CLS shiftknob to go with the rest of my CF interior. I purchased the shiftknob not knowing if it would work. The Knob came from Performance Products I also ordered the MP all leather steering wheel. Anyway the shift knob actually fits! Keyless go works just a it should. Below are some pics I will replace them with new pics when I get my SLR back from my buddy. So in the mean time I used a POS digital P&S. If you're wondering the CF interior was part of the President's option.

It took me 15 minutes.
Open the cubby door and Cup holder door. Slip the center conole peice forward. it then raises out. two wiring harnesses need to be unplugged. The shift boot & Knob are secured by a plastic ring that spins and releases. You then pull up on the knob. The console, boot and knob are all attached at this point. You have to remove the knob from the boot. It takes some wiggling and a small screw driver to seperate them. Once you have it out it is easy to understand what needs to be done. I reused the ring that twists which is under the boot. You put everything back togeather. If your Start button does not respond you did not push the knob down far enough.

BigApe - The visual cracks me up!
BiTurbo- Check out the thread below. The president’s edition is an option available for 2003 E55's It was a $10,500 option which included Full CF interior with AMG bagging, Navi/Command, AMG lit SS door sills, 19" AMG wheels, Tectite paint and Charcoal interior. I might be missing something? When I purchased the car it was CPO'ed the two release handles for the center console lids were replaced due to broken parts. The dealership replaced these with Burl wood parts. Part of my deal was to have them replace the parts with the proper CF pieces. Long story short the kit has to be made, According to the Parts manager at my dealer AMG charges $12,000 to recreate the entire kit. They are not allowed to buy just the 2 individual pieces. However the MBNA procurement manager had remembered ordering the kit for a dealership in 06' with some luck on my side they did not use the whole kit. They had those two pieces sitting in their parts room! The parts are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. There were only 7 President's E55's ordered.
The CF Shift Knob was from www.performanceproducts.com

My dealer called me at 7:30am this morning to let me know my missing CF Center console release pulls had been delivered. The pieces were replaced with Burl wood when the car was CPO'ed. Part of the deal with the sales department was they had to replace the parts again with the correct CF. Long story short they were forced to spend the $12K to buy the entire kit. Lucky for them the MBNA procurement guy had remembered sourcing a kit for the dealer in Scottsdale. The parts manager installed all of the kit but the two pieces I needed in the customers car. He had them sitting in his desk for almost two years!!! I still can not believe they found a set!
I have two new release pulls that I am going to offer up for free. Again sorry for the crappy pics. First person to PM me gets them.
