Keyless Go Issue

Had to replace one of the two keys on this bad boy. Once the new key was received, it fails to work as a "keyless go" key. It does open and close the car and starts the car but that's it. I can't use the button or lock the doors with a press of the button.

MB says to bring it in "what else". Is there something simple that can be done? On the dash says "key not detected". Thanks,

I have the same issue, Keyless Go seems to work 95% of the time however, it does find a cycle where it will not work for some period of time (2-3 starts). My dealership has replaced my keys once and has checked the Keyless Go receivers in the car and they advise that all is normal; I have flagged this issue five times. So far nothing has solved the problem. I continue to flag it everytime the car heads into the shop.....hopefully there will be a fix sometime soon.

Two suggestions. First check the batteries. I think dead batteries give the same symptoms. Second, I would think that the key, whether or not it is a Keyless Go key must be programmed for your specific car. Maybe it isn't properly programmed.

If it isn't programmed how does one do that...the stealership?

since you said that the key unlocks the car and starts the ignition, it is properly programmed. The dealer made a mistake and ordered you a regular key instead of a keyless go key

Once when I changed batteries, I kept getting the "no key detected" message. I started the car by putting the key in the ignition and drove home (about 30mi). When I got home, the keyless go worked fine. It was as if the car had to initialize the key or something. Might be worth a try.

Correct, it does do that but doesn't act as a keyless go key. The key itself is plain without the shiny sides to it, probably how the non-keyless keys look. I have been embarassed that I agreed to buy a car with only one key. Besides ordering the wrong key it took 10 days to get here. The stealership in another city told me to take it in to the dealer to check on this problem.

Another issue that you might be able to help me with is the teleaid. I have sent in all the papers but the fricking button does not work and the dash says "SOS teleaid not operational" any thoughts? Thanks,

I would think that for security reasons, it would have to be done by the dealership.

I tend to agree with this logic.

When I bought my car, the salesman said he had to establish the account. He had it ready for me when I picked it up. I had to make an initial call to complete the process. I never made another call and did not renew the subscription when it expired.

My guess is that your account has not been setup yet. Try setting up an account in the Owners Online portion of MBUSA.com and check your Tele aid account status online. It should tell you if you have the service or not.

I think it's pretty clear it's an issue with the dealer ordering the wrong key for your car. It's not the first time something like this had happened on the boards. There were a couple similar stories posted here before.

However, the Teleaid is something new. Try using the "i" button and see if you connect to the Teleaid center and you can talk to them. If not, call Mercedes roadside and they should be able to check your Teleaid status.

You're welcome. I was directing the Nokia comment to someone who bought one this week. He responded earlier in the thread.

Wow, talk about blatant thread hijacking.

Got it yesterday and just started toying with it today. Transferred all my contacts, songs, messages over and did a master reset on my SE W950i before handing it over to the wife. Music is about the same quality as my old SE. The 5MP camera is a nice touch with the Carl Zeiss lens and the quality of the picture is pretty good. I don't miss the hand writing recognition of the W950i for sure. Web browsing with the WLAN at my home is pretty cool too.

I'm still trying to figure out the GPS. The map is working fine, but it's not picking up GPS signal when I'm in my apartment. I guess I'll have to try it outdoors tomorrow.
