Panic Button
I recently bought the new chrome fob for my 2005, which has the older black one. It arrived in Australia fully programmed and with a pre-cut blade 5 days after placing my order. Fantastic service! It landed at my door step at a 60% discount to my dealers price. I only needed to re-program my personal seat memory settings, reverse parking mirror and digital speedo instead of temperature reading default.
There is a red PANIC button which we don't get in Australian delivered cars. Can somebody please tell me what it is normally connected to? Is it just the flashing lights, horn etc. or is it something more serious like a 24 hour security monitoring service? I might try to get it reprogrammed here.

The Panic Button sets up an electromagnetic field around you that deflects bullets and rapists alike. Also, a cannon will pop out of your trunk and annihilate any dangerous characters in your area.

On a serious note, you were dead on with the panic button, all it does is set your alarm off from a distance. Unless you're planning on being attacked in the near future by Master Blaster, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Follow the instructions in this thread. FedEx to your door for the equivalent of AUD 178.00 vs. $420 from any Oz Mercedes dealer. The best part? - the blade is only AUD 4.60 cut to your VIN vs. AUD 70.00 from the local MB dealer! Nice one DC (Aust)
