May pick up a RS4 today. Opinions needed.
Hey guys,
After I picked up my E55 for service yesterday, I stopped by the Porsche/Audi dealer that I have dealt with for years. As soon as I pull into the lot I see a brand new black on black RS4 with carbon fiber trim. To make a long story short I took the car for a nice spin (alone) and fell in love with this automobile. It has one of the best sounding exhaust I've heard this side of a Ferrari. The car is loaded with a great cockpit and beautiful materials. Also, the fit and finish is top notch and it's a true pleasure to drive.
They are making me a hell of a deal (no I'm not selling my E55) and I'm very close to signing on the dotted line.
I'm looking for your thoughts on this car and wondering if anyone on the board owns one.
Thanks for your help

While the RS4 might not be as fast as the beast on a straight line, the weight savngs made it a very fun car to drive around the track or in the twisties. I'd say go for it if you get a great deal. It would be a nice weekend car. Also, I think Audi's finish is slightly better than Bimmer and Merc

what a sound! if you got a really good deal i also have to say take it.
especially if you got snow or rain sometimes, RS4 is killer choice

I have driven one and it is a rocket. but, to me it is a 75,000$ a4. and for 75k and a FUN car to drive i would get a 911 all day long.

very cool car and GREAT looking, the widebody looks incredible. the car is just a little too expensive even though it does come with a lot of stuff and plenty of power. the reason why i say that is because audi prices and values TANK big time after owning it for just a little bit. evey audi dealer around here is trying to rape people trying to get into these things and they are not selling although they will tell u different, just walk to their rear lot. they are also trying to overvalue this car even when its slightly used (5k-10k). awesome car though but i'm not sure its worth getting unless u can get a rediculous lease deal which I am doubting because of residual going to crap and because dealers trying to offer this car as the end of all small-size performers

Get the RS4, people can argue the semantics of price and how it stacks up to 911's all day long, bottom line is virtually every reviewer who's driven one has fallen in love. Its MAGIC people, some cars have it, this one does. You can't account for MAGIC, you can't enumerate it, it just happens.

Do you really need ANOTHER 4-door fun car to drive? If you really want another fun car to drive, I would get something different than the 55...a two door.

Hi Rock,
I'd pass on the RS4 ... you have a 4 door Sedan beast already. Since you aren't selling the E55 why not get something more impractical?

My take is you are goint to get bored with the car and regret it really fast (although it is a great car) you have to look at what it brings to the table for you.
If you want to change it up I would go with a car in a different family/class (you already have the best performance spors sedan on the road). For that kind of money do a Z06, used 911 Turbo or go another route like a LS460, BMW750, S550, or even a Masarati Quatraporte...
Just some thoughts.

order an S5
less HP, but more torque
The S5 is a sexy car with AWD, V8 and interior detail that beats any MB or BMW in its class.
I like the RS4, but it weights too much and not enough torque.
maybe it they offered DSG and a bit more torque.. would I consider one.
I do agree.. the exhuast tone is amazing.

Okay, that was my last gay reply today.
I already have a two door sports car and the RS4 is nothing like the E55. It is a very involving car.............. like a M3.
The E55 is a thing of beauty, a sweet highway cruiser and stop light warrior but it falls short in stimulating all of your nerve endings. Owning an E55 is like having the hottest lady on the block............................... You love to take her out................... show her off................let strangers make a fuss over her but when it's time to do the nasty nasty..............well, she just fails to stimulate all of your senses.

Preparing for Frankfurt
Audis next generation A4 is getting ready for its debut in Frankfurt in September. Under the camouflage on this photo, the A4 saloon is showroom ready.
Based on the same new modular-length platform as the A5, the A4 will be the second new car on that platform. Others that will use the new platform are the Q5 and the future models of the A6 and A8. The layout of the new platform makes it possibly to move the engine rearwards, while gearbox and differential will change positions. Therefore the new A4 will be less front-heavy than the current model. The front overhang will be about 15 cm shorter, and together with the better weight distribution it will improve the car’s handling considerably. It’s no secret that Audi is aiming to make the A4 as sporty as the BMW 3-series.
Engines will be in a range from the new 1.8 litre TFSI starting at 130 bhp up to a 4.2 litre V8 in the S version. Between them we will find several petrol engines, all with direct-injection, and diesel engines with up to 240 horsepower. We also wouldn’t be surprised if an RS 4 appeared sometime during the 2009 model year with the direct-injected 4.2 litre V8 with 420 horsepower.
Front-wheel drive will be standard, and Quattro will be optional. As in all recently redesigned and new Audis, the new Quattro system will be rear-biased with a nominal 40/60 split.
With the A4 saloon hitting the showrooms in November 2007, those of you who want the lifestyle Avant will still have to wait until spring 2008.

I agree 100% about the exhaust tone, Rock. It's the kind of aural note that brings out the inner hooligan in you. You start changing your driving route to seek out overpasses and tunnels; any excuse to drop the windows and let 'er wail....
[sponging forehead]
I hear it drives nice too.
If I didn't already have a 4-door blessed by the Gods of Olympus themselves, I'd be typing this from the cockpit of a slate-grey RS4 as we speak.
As it stands, I am going to wait on the GTR.

I have an 05 S4 and its an all around great car.Fit and finish is top notch and Audi's service is great also.I drove an Audi reps RS4 before it was even released here in the states and after I got back to the dealer I placed a deposit on one right then and there, only problem is when the time came for ordering it,they didnt make them in white. So I pulled the plug.Out of all the Audi lineup,I'd say the RS4 is the best looking and all around car for my likings...........If you can get a good enough deal then get one.
