E63 W/030 perf. pkg is in. P/U Fri. Need help w/RADAR
Hi Guys. I'm so excited. I am a big fan of the V1 and will continue to use it. Now here's my thinking to complicate matters. Cops dont like to see Radar Detectors when you get pulled over and I usually have time to hide it before the cruiser can get behind me. Once in a while you don't have time. It happened to me once and I still got the ticket dropped from 98 in a 65 to 79 (minimal for speeding in NJ since it was no more than 14 MPH over). In my SL55 (sold with the Bel) I had a Bel RX75 and the hard wire for the V1. I used the V1 only when really cooking since the difference was only very noticeable if there was a vehicle or vehicles in front of me. It all has to do with the antenna's location. I'd like to have something similar in the E63. What should I get assuming that the V1 will be used on high speed hwy driving? I want laser diffusers as well which the Bel has (it was very good except the antenna in the grill gets blocked ocassionally and it makes a big difference). The Escort SRX is basically the same unit. The older K40's were not that good but I understand that they are better now. Could some of you guys chime in that have stealth units with recommendations and explanations of what you like and dislike and pricing pls? I'd really appreciate that. I know some of you will think it is overkill but the V1 high in the windshield is unbeatable for radar but since I'm getting diffusers and installation why not get radar with it? The V1 etched in the rearview mirror is still pretty visible isn't it? Give me some help here pls and I promise pics of the black on black with the 2 piece wheels. Thx guys. This board is great.

My K40 saved me twice in the last 10 days. 60 something in a 40 and 110+ in a 65.
On the 110+ blast, my K40 alerted me no less than 1/2 mile before I saw Johnny Law.
I love the stealth install of my K40. I've got one LED on the left of the instrument cluster for front alerts and one LED on the right of the instrument cluster for rear alerts. Plus the front laser defuser is so hidden that you'd really have to be looking for it to find it. I've got the K40 K2000 which is not the latest and greatest. The only thing I don't like about it is lack of a mute button for city driving. They have addressed this with the newest Calibre model. I would say get the K40, you won't be disappointed.

Thx but are you talking about getting the calibre or the older model again. I ask because while it is a nice install the V1 is better but it's on the windshield and can't block laser. Pls LMK.
Thx,
Pablo

When you say that the V1 is better, you have personal experience with both? Or are you just going by internet reviews? I've had both, and currently have the K40 K2000 (older model) and it is better than my V1. I also had a Passport 8500 X50 and it's better than that too.

I also have a escort 8500, today i was driving home going 70 on a 50, laser went of slamed on the brake then passed the cop didnt get pulled over. So i guess escort 8500 and fast reaction would beat laser.

2014 GL 350 on order
JohnnyE63: I will cut thru the chatter for you.
1. LASER jammers ARE legal so get one asap. I have the Lidatek LE-30 and has saved my frame 6 times over 2 yrs.
I have the V 1 etched in my mirror from C2 Designs in Tampa, FL thru my local shop here in MI (Motorwerks). Did a great job and no it cant be seen easily esp. if you turn it off with the toggle switch that can be mounted down by your right calf on the seat front panel.
Any other questions pls let me know-Joker
