Ran a CL63 with my 'o7 Cl600 from a roll and...
(Not the right forum I know but I have an 04e55)........I got him good. I put 2++ car lengths on him from about 20-100mph. I guess the 150lbs/ft of torque makes quite a difference on such a heavy car!
I am sure he was not happy I heard his 63 howling over the docileness of my v12...he still had temp plates on. Yea yea not broken in and all that i can hear some of you say... hogwash I say...but a fellow AMGer so i gave him the thumbs up, even though my 600 is not AMG. I guess you do not have to be AMG to smoke one. Although I like my e55 better...it is easier to use electronically...
v12 power!

We have a couple of S600s, and regardless of how big and heavy those cars are... they are incredibly fast. From the dig I'd say 55, but at triple digits...

He raced a cl63, not a e63. And the 07 CL600 gets to 60 in 4.3 seconds while the 63 is 4.6 sec.

If you look at the times posted by the top mags, it appears you have those reversed. The curb weight of the CL63 is 4,400 -4,650 lbs. With the same engine how could it turn a lower time than the e?

Well..., give it 4.5 seconds,

It's fast, even for the price paid.

Well my race was awesome but why buy the cl63 when for 6k more you can have 150 more lb/ft of torque in the cl600? the only thing the cl63 has is looks... all show and no dough if you ask me. it really showed on the street. while my 600 might weigh slightly more, it is not enough to offset the huge torque deifference.
mercedes knew this and in the US does not offer the sport package on 600's. S or CL.
but 2++ car lengths from 20-100 is alot! and i would bet my bottom dollar he had it floored.
we both jumped forward and i just methodically walked him the whole time it felt like the faster we got the faster I was pulling away too!!
do the math a NA v8 vs a twin turbo v12. I have to say it was not even close.
63 is a dumb engine choice for an S and CL.

I think it was car and driver but they got an SL600 to 60 in 3.6 seconds...it is not that fast but if it had drag radials it might be....it is all about traction in 55's 600's and esp 65's.

and to add your other post about how a heavier cra could beat a lighter car with the same engine....the e55 wagons were faster 60 than the reg e55 four doors because the weghit distribution on the wagon allowed for better traction, hence a better time to speed.

I've had two 55K cars and a RENNTech'd 600. The 600s have the better engine, no question. Smoothness, power, modability, the Biturbo V12 is just a better engine. I'd take a 600 sport over a comprable 55k car any day. Don't get me wrong, the 55K engine is awesome (hence being on my 2nd one) but they just aren't as good as the V12s. The one things with 600s is from the factory they look fairly bland compared to their AMG counterparts, but with a few choice mods that's not something that can't be overcome.
I'm sorry but the 63 engine just doesn't do anything for me.
