Purchase help - 2005 E55
I did a search on E55's and could not find much.
I've heard of MB buying back a number of vehicles under the lemon law. Is this something I need to watch out for?
How's the reliability as a daily driver? Comfort on long rides?
Thank you for any advice
Reliability... that's always pure luck....
no, seriously, browse around this forum.... some members have cars w/ tons of problems... going back and forth to stealerships.... some have been trouble free.... I myself got a nightmare w/ '03.... lemon'd it.... now have an '05 and so far trouble free. *knock*knock*
VMI does provide some help.Comfort.... I would say the seat is one of the best..... plus if you are a bit sore, you could always turn on the massage function
I had a problem with my brakes that had me out of service for a week or so. Other than that, it has been smooth sailing.
Comfort wise, the car is a cream-puff. The kind of car you could loan to your grandmother without concern. Leave the transmission in Comfort mode, set the suspension to the softest setting and nobody would know the true nature of the car. A huge appeal to me. Even the exhaust is near silent INSIDE the car with the windows up. Windows down, or outside the car, the low rumble hints at the insane power you are putting down, tho.
All in all a miracle of a car. I've never been around a car that seems like a 'normal' car one minute only to crush you into the back of the seat the next. An incredibly capable daily driver that runs low 12's and seats five with comfort. Damn, I feel like getting out of bed and hitting the open road now

You won't look back! 2005 is a great year for the E, btw. Go for it!
