"......but in the twisties...." is the best one. Followed by a close second "....after 120mph, the M would walk....."

This is all interesting and (at least for some posts), pretty creative.
Even though the M cars have proven slower down the 1/4 mile track here in the US (I don't even think that point is debatable any longer), most M owner's will never acknowledge that the 1/4 mile means anything. So for those who believe that high speed races are really "where it's at", the majority of videos out there, whether you want to call them bogus, engineered, orchestrated, or mistaken (like racing an E550 and calling it an E63) are of M cars walking away at speed.
In fact, I know of ONLY 3 videos that show 55's walking away from M cars at speed. One is SleeperX's car pulling on a heavily modded M5 here in the US. One (or three different ones of the same cars) is of Kamzamg pulling on an M6. One is a highway run in Europe with a K2 car pulling on an M at speed. There may be another that I am forgetting, but that's about it.
So for those AMG owners (myself included) that believe that there is absolutely no way in hell a properly-running K4 loses to a stock M6, let's see some video. Otherwise, expect more of the same.
I'd love to have some runs with an M car, but they don't seem to show up at the strip. And every time I run into one in the street, he or she is usually heading in the other direction or the circumstances are just not safe for a race.

Wise words above
I own an M6
Like the thread.
I for one travel with a camcorder and unless I filmed it I don't talk about it.
I think some of the board mebers here should get camcorders and start recoridng som eof their encounters . Its so much more fun to watch a video than to hear a one sided discussion.
I personally believe that you'll never have the fastest car out there as there is always someone out there faster than you.
Just have fun and enjoy your ride.

I have hotspots on my SMG Clutch!
Heh heh although joking aside ... thats freaking BS.
I was reading on the M5board that the SMG Clutchs are going out under 20k miles and the owners are expected to shell out 4k (a pop) to replace. WTF???
I understand that the Clutch is a wearable item but the computer should be controlling that so no real abuse can occur. Especially with the crappy US launch control.

Ouch. I wouldn't go there. As a car enthusiast, it kills me when I see those posts on M5board about those transmission problems. I would have pulled out all of my hair a long time ago if I was that poor guy Ashok. He is the patron saint of dedication as far as I am concerned.
Leave those problems alone.

Chuckle
It is FUNNY ...
At the same time its like the clutch issue and I do FEEL for the owners.
To me its the same as them posting about pump issues

My excuse for losing to my last AMG? It was a damn SLR! The E63, who thought he had lunch waiting for him on the highway learned quite differently.
BMW drivers have been the most aggressive since I got this car. I had an M6 convertible try to race me down Ventura Boulevard. I was in the right lane, he came around me to the RIGHT! I had a 335 that tried to race me up Laurel over Mulholland (taught him that excessive power can make up for handling). At least BMW has learned in one of their cars that Torque is FUN!

Those poor guys get stranded in the middle of nowhere without any warning. Scary and, I dare say, dangerous. Like I said, I wouldn't go there. I feel badly enough over some of the stories I've read that I would leave it alone. But that's just me.

Sadly I spewed these in my loss to Vadim
(1) No traction
(2) I hit the rev limiter
(3) E55k has too much Go*damn TORQUE!
(4) Roads were cold
(5) My Gold Chains & Chest hair got caught in the gear shifter
(6) I didn't buy the C6 Z06
(7) I need more mods
(8) Corvette C6 Interior SUCKS!
(9) Did I mention I couldn't get TRACTION?
(10) All of the above
2 last bonus reasons......I hit a pot hole! Doh!! But...My salesman told me I could beat anything on the road?

Porsche owners always say the funniest things -
"Hmmmm, fast car mate! But I'm still running in the engine ... "
Must be another Carrera GT in a C4S bodykit then
