Dormant Engine

Sorry to impose in the thread, but there's much more activity here than on the S55 site. Quick question...due to my marriage last summer and my living arrangements at my wifes house, my 2005 S55 sits in my garage and is driven 1x per week for 15 mins or sits and idles for 15 minutes 1 X week. Can these dry starts be causing any harm to the engine?? Will be consolidationg homes shortly and moving into new one so problem will be fixed by Nov.!!! Car was serviced (fresh oil) last summer prior to its hibernation. Thanks!!!

Better to driveit than idle it. As long as you are using Mobil One oil that should be OK. It sticks better than natural oil.

Basically what many of us do throughout the winter. You're fine.

I totally disagree. You should never allow your car to be driven or idled once a week and owe it to every Mercedes Benz enthusiast to give your car away to a good home. I will PM you my address.

hahahaha.

I would say one per week may be an overkill unless you have time and want to do it. Your engine will be fine. I would say one every two weeks is fine. If anything, you battery may get weak until you drive it thoroughly for a recharge.
