depends on wheels size, if youre running 18's I personally use BFG. If you can get yourself a set of 17" wheels to fit I would opt for Mickey Thompson as they are a supposed to be bit stickier

I would just go with the ole BFG's. Run them at 17-18psi and get um good and hot. You won't believe the difference in stick.

Don't forget, you want the Drag Radial and NOT the Drag Radial 2. Not sure why they came out with 2??

Here's the one you need.

NOT the one below

Just a word of advice... do not get the Nitto Drag Radials if the best 60 foot is required...I ran the 285 18s from them and they were just slightly better in terms of hook up than the stock Contis, but they do give longer wear than the BFG's. The BFG Dragradial 2 or the updated design was much better in 60 foot but they will definatly have a much shorter lifespan than the Nittos. On 17's go with the Mickey Thompsons they hook the best from our experience.

Longevity for daily driving: Nitto, BFG, MT

Pure performance and hook up: MT, BFG(very close to the MT), Nitto

Hope this helps.

With 19's you aint going to be coming out of the hole well - the wheel is just too rigid for the strip - but better for the corners (Jangy might want to chime in here). Having said this some very respectible times have been set with 19's tho ... so

So you may need to go to 18's or even 17's if you need a good DR...

I dont think there is a d/r available for 19's. I ran Toyo RA1's last year and they were pretty sticky (probably not as sticky as BFG's though) and I ran on them daily. Still have plenty of tread left!

No DRs for a 19. I'd use the OEM rims and run the BFGs. I'm running 275/35/18s on 18X9.5et31 DRs and I like it.
You can get decent times out of a 19, but it will always be slower than a comparable 18. A 20 will simply feel like a dead SC, regardless.

I've used 285 Nittos for street tires for the past 11,000 miles. At the wear bars, they have lasted as long as my stock 265 Contis.

I'm moving on to PS2s in the rear to match the fronts, since my wife is taking the car as her daily driver and we're selling her ML (I'm looking at an SL600 DD to replace the E55).

Looks like your best bet for a 17" MT drag radial is the 275/40 17.

You may not get a 16" wheel to clear your rear brakes, that's usually the #1 factor in determining how small of a wheel you can run. I've never looked but I'd be surprised if you could get a 16" wheel to clear those rear brakes.

ccw makes a lightweight 16" rim specifcally for our cars that will clear our brakes. a mt 255/50 mounts up nicely.

For what it's worth, I run 17" wheels and M/T drag radials on my RENNtech SL65. It makes 820 RWTQ, runs 1.59 60's, and I have zero traction issues with those tires. You don't need to go any further

There arent. I ran RA1's on 18's. Sorry for the confusion, I thought I stated that there are no 19" drag radials (including RA1's).

For anyone determined to run a 19" tire, the Hoosier A1 might be worth checking out. It's made for autocrossing and is pretty darn sticky from what I hear (and probably not something you'd want to run on a daily basis unless you never drive in the rain, which is also true of the BFG and most drag radials). From looking at Tirerack's website it looks like they come in 295/30/19--not sure if that's too tall for our cars. A few of the high-hp Viper guys are running the 345/19 and seem to like it. They also make an R1 but it's a roadrace tire and needs to heat up more before it gets sticky.

.......I was more curious than aything else. I would have jumped on them if they had them. No easy solutions with 19 inch rims.

I personally stick with BFG drags. Though they don't last as long as other brands they do hook very very well.

I hope it doesn't rain much where you are or I wouldn't want to be in front of you when the lights turn red...
