Renntech E55 AMG vs. Turbo Impala...*Video*

We had a Turbo Impala come out and race with us last night. This car is totally awesome. Just to give you an idea of how fast this car is, check out this recent video of it at the drag strip..

thanks, this is my car its just turbo and camed and alot of minor stuff to make it run right. it runs decent i wish i would have hung better with the e55 but still fun non the less.

also that video of me at the track i was traping very low do to tunning problems, my last vist netted 120's.

stock bottom end, some home ported heads stock valves. the stock bottom end on these cars is really strong, a good friend of mine ran 9.01 at 151 with a junk yard bottom end and this was after about 20 passes or so. the weak link on these cars is the transmission.

i wouldnt say i cant hang with a e55, if you would like to bring a stock one out or maybe one with less mods then i think it would be closer. me and les (sorry dont know your handle name) talked about doing a dig race sometime when he gets back, i think it will be a much closer race. since my car is setup for drag racing, suspension, and a high stall converter doesnt help from a roll.


the trans is a 4t65 i have gone threw 5. i think i finally have the right combo this time around.

So its basically the same valve body and internals as the 4l65? What motor comes in those impala's?

From a dig, you'd waste a stock E55.

it came with a l36 NA engine to begin with. i ran boost on that engine for awhile but due to the high compression (9.5:1)i could only run so much boost. i then swaped out the engine and put in a l32 bottom end out of the newer gtp's 04 and plus which is lower compression (8.5:1).the rods are powder metal, suppose to be stronger then forged, to run more boost. right now im running a very small turbo its a turbonetics 62-1 with a T3 hotside. once i break into the 10s with this setup ill be going with a real turbo like a 72 or 76 trim turbo.

I definitely consider staying within 1-2 car lengths of a car that isn't pulling away "hanging." And that's not a stock E55 as others have said. :0)

thanks for all the nice words guys, like i said i hope les chimes in here so we can get a dig race in. i think i can hang damn close with his car from a dig rather then a roll the car isnt meant for roll racing. im sure the e55 is the same way a better dig car then a roll car.

Glad to see you finaly joined a real car forum!jklol Anyway, I would love to race you from a dig on DRadials when I get back from my work trip! Also I just want to add that Jeffs Impala is the ultimate sleeper running with modded C5Zo6's etc.... I was very suprised. Great work Jeff...oh the haircut looks much better as well
