Wierd Electrical Problem

Had a strange thing happen to me the other day. I parked the car at the airport as usual, and left on a 4-day business trip. When I got back I went to open the trunk, but it wouldn't open or recognize the key.

I opened the drivers door and went to start the car. It clicked a few times, and then the clock started running backwards...then forward. I got a message or two on the instrument panel - about all I remembered seeing was something about convenience items not working, and something about the brakes.

I sat there a few minutes and the clock finally stopped - back at the right time - and the car started - albeit not turing over too fast.

The battery was replaced about 5 months ago.

Now I'm a bit worried about leaving it at the airport this week.

Anyone ever have this happen to them?

Barry

That's a dead battery. Is the new battery a mercedes? The car should have a reserve one-time charge to start the car in the case of a dead battery. That's why it started. You have find out why the main battery drained.

Thanks guys for your thoughts. I think something is draining the battery too, and I suspect it will need to go to the dealer. Thanks goodness for warranty!
