Bonneville Salt Flats on July 16th 2007
Any one want to go? Looks like it could be fun.
Bonneville Salt Flats on July 16th 2007, so far I am hearing $500.00 for three timed runs on the 3 mile straight.

If you are going for the experience of "running on The Flats", you will have a blast.
If you are going with a vision of "you running flat out on the Flats", you will be really bummed. Called first year I got here (4+ years ago)and was told my car would be limited to no more than 125-135 (wasn't much more/less if I remember), if you break that speed, you are escorted off the track and no record of your run will be given to you. Very VERY strict there.
Also was told with our wider tires, the flats will feel very uneasy over 100mph. I asked, "What does that mean?" Was told that the car will begin to rock back and forth like you are on ice, thus the huge wings and skinny tires on most Salt Flats Cars.
Not trying to rain on the parade, maybe things have changed in the past few years.
Just hate for someone to drive all the way up thinking they were gonna do 185 on the Flats. Just ain't gonna happen.
Sure sounds like a blast though. OH, and bring LOTS of sunscreen!

From what I have been told is that this is a private rental and there will be no limit on what you run. I have asked several times what I need and how fast can I go. I was told as fast as I want.
