Service C - 07 E63

What's in it? How much does it cost? And is there anything I should request them to do or not do (ie: Tranny reflash)?

If your car is shifting too quickly or not starting in 1st in d/s let them know. If you just want the latest and greatest sofware for the TCU, tell em the car shift too quickly in d/s. The ECU, TCU reset , software update usually makes the car more responsive and really fun to drive. You have to continue to drive hard to make the change stick. I am 1200 miles away from this service and it supposedly is under 500.00

2005 E55 Delivered 01/07/05
I just had this done on my '05 E55. It is basically all the fluids - oil/filter,coolant, check tire pressure etc, etc, and reset computer. It cost about $250. No it is not covered under your warranty. Not sure how much it is for E63, but I assume it's around the same. I have several cases on Mobile1 0W-40 in my warehouse so I brought them my oil and Mercedes filter, I saved about $150. I could have done all this by myself and save the money, but they would not reset my computer ( for service) so I just brought the dealer my own oil and filter.

So the dealers wont reset the service indicator if you do the oil changes and service at an independent shop?

I wonder what scan tool via OBD would work for this there are 2 local MB shops I have to stop in and ask.

My dealer said service usually runs $500-$700 each visit and if the car needs brakes $$$$$$ more

Correct, I asked the dealer if they would just reset the service computer, and they told me no. They had to do the service in order to reset the service computer due to liability issues ya da, ya da.

Aren't the services for the 07 AMGs set on the rotating A-B-A-B-schedule at every 10K miles?

My E63 started telling me I needed a C service at 6800 miles. I called the dealer and he said it was an error in the computer and than no service is due until 10,000 miles and it would be an A service.

C service sounds strange. I had a C55 and it too did the A-B-A-B schedule. just did A on my 63, it was around $280 and I think B is more like $550. If I remember right the C service is for non-AMGs.

I'll call on Monday to see if it's accurate. Every time when I start the car, the instrument cluster indicates how many days until service C. It's a count down ticker, and started with 30 days. I only have about 3300 miles on the car.

reset

It is very easy to reset, turn the key on and hold the reset button for the miles down for 5 sec and there you go you are in the service menu, change whatever you need and confirm. Done

Dunno about that. Sounds like

I just spoke with the service advisor and he told me that the C is a one year anniversary of the car's computer coming online and isn't an actual service. He said they could reset it. The next service will be an A at 10,000 miles.

That sounds off as well. My car was one of the first in ATL and I have not quite had it a year, can't quite remember but I know I had my C55 aroundJuly 4 2006 so I'm pretty close. The car is supposed to remind for the service every 10k miles or 12 months withever is first. I just did the A service, car has~9400 miles and DID DO the countdown from 30 days. I was thinking that was the anniversary of the computer starting but I never have seen anything about C service from the display. Time for a different service advisor?

Agreed. The SA was just trying to pacify me. I also asked if there was a way I could reset it myself, and he said no. I used the instructions found on the W211 sticky and just did it. SO much for what he knew (or wanted to disclose).

Oh yeah, something else that MAY pertain to your car too. When I went for service there was a bulletin for the serpintine belt. Not sure that was the name for it that they used but anyway its the belt on the front of the engine that drives everything. replaced it under warranty.

Not quite that easy, but yes - it can be done by the owner. I did it myself, too. My SA offerred to walk me through it over the phone, but I figured it out. He said since I brought the car in and changed the oil ever few months (5 oil changes in 12,700 miles) he didn't think I needed the service.

Hmmm...I wonder if this applies to all M156 motors (6.2L) and not just specific to the CLK.
I hope someone else can chime in.

Just had my service C done at 5400 miles. Cost $193. at my MB dealer. All they did was change oil/filter, top off fluids, etc... The message can be cleared by the owner. Follows very similar instructions to putting in dyno mode...not too difficult.
