Hot of the press- M6 increase power to 540 ponnies

i hope that's accurate...maybe those bmw guys will finally have a car to relieve their inferiority complex (but i doubt it). unfortunately i don't see any real truth in that blurb so we'll have to wait and see.

That is true, but is also irrelevant. The 5L engine has plenty of volume and could produce plenty of torque down low if the engineers who designed it had desired it (the E39 M5's 5.0L V8 produced max torque at 3800 rpm)...the reason they don't have a low torque peak is due entirely to their decision to have a stratospheric 8,250 rpm redline, which necessitates a high torque peak.
