How to remove lower grill

Anyone know how to remove the tabs that break when removing the lower front grill on the E63?

I was driving on the highway two cars behind a semi that began to weave and suddenly it appeard that the semi's tire blew and before I could react there was tire debris all over the road. It was unavoidable as I hit a big piece of tire. When I got home the lower front grill was bent and rubber scuff marks marred on my white front bumper.

Now with the lower front grill off I cannot seem to remove the small black plastic tabs that hold the grill on?? I guess I am headed to MB parts and hopefully they have the tabs in stock.

Anyone have experience with these fragile black plastic tabs that snap of piece by piece but don't want to come off.

Those little tabs are cheap.I think there is a total of 14 maybe. The tabs have a smal clip on one side of them, push a small screw driver into the side with the clip and then pry down gently. You can then pull the screen out as you dry the clip down.To get the broken clips out of the bumper, just take and pop them off with s sharp knife or blade.

Part number# A 002 988 51 81 you have a total of 14 on the lower screen.

When you say "pop them off with a sharp knife or blade" do you mean cut the top off?

Everytime I get a good hold of the piece with pliers and pull the plastic simply snaps with the remainder still attached to the bumper.

Thanks Jrocket I appreciate your response.

Yes,if you have broken ones that wont hold the screen anymore, cut them off with a sharp knife or blade, then push the remaining part down through the bumper.
