Current auction values on '05 E55's?
Anyone have current auction values or trade-in values on an '05 E55? I'm looking at trading mine in on an '06. So far, a MB dealer offered me only $50K on a trade, which seemed low to me for a CPO car with low mileage.

Sounds about right to me. Some people are having a hard time selling theirs private party in the high 40's. Take it and run if you're looking to make a change.

Not at all surprising. Why would you even consider getting rid of the '05 to get what is essentially the same car that is only a few months newer? If you want an option that yours doesn't have, Steve could probably add it for far less than the hit you'll have to take even on a private sale.

Suggest you go to www.galves.com. You can subscribe for a week, month or year for a very nominal fee. This is the company ALL car dealers base their trade-in offers against. I should give you a very good idea of what the wholesale value of your car is. If you car is highly optioned (ie: distronic, voice control, elec trunk closer, etc.) you can forget about recouping the $$ you spent for them as the stealer usually won't consider them in their offer.

yes, that number is fair.. these cars are very soft at auction right now... Now, if your car has under 10k miles, that number is too light..

The key to all the threads like these is for people to figure out a way to keep their cars and enjoy driving them. This will cause the price to firm up. In this case an '05 is still a late model car with awesome performance and decent gas mileage. If you push it and force a quick sale you will get pounded into a huge loss. Now how can that be better than keeping the car and modding the beast a little more?
