The fronts are 245s and the rears are 285s. The offset of the wheel you'd be giving him would be more of a determining factor of them fitting than the width itself. 285s fit comfortably, but with a weird offset, they may rub the fenders, etc...

where can i find more information on what's needed and perhaps even instructions on how to go about lowering it using the same method? as far as i understand, you didn't use a lowering unit right? how is the ride quality?

I don't want to start a fight here - but since you are new ocninc - I think I should let you know that the "links" method is without question the worst way to lower your car. It's irrelevant whether or not many people have run it without issues, the fact is that the proper way to lower your E55 is by either adjusting the ride height via the STAR Diagnosis system, or with a lowering module. The local KLEEMANN dealer to me does the STAR reprogramming for $250.
Again, I'm not trying to flame anyone here. I would just not risk a failed suspension with a possible denial of warranty using the links method, when the STAR system does a much safer, cleaner, and reliable job for what is only relatively pennies more.

I actually agree with Marcus here. I plan on having my car lowered properly with STAR when I can actually find someone to do it around here.
