Clay bar

White cars seem to accumulate a ton of **** behind the tires and along the rockers. Bugs, rubber, road goo, etc.

I cleaned up the car today and clayed the rockers, rear fenders and some other really dirty areas. What a difference. I hadn't clayed the car in around 15k miles (it has close to 25k miles), there was a lot of rubber from a couple trips to the strip and other **** stuck to the fenders.

Before (pass side)

After

I still need to clay the trunk and rear bumper, but the car looks great now (after a couple coats of NXT).

On areas like that I use a tar remover or mild degreaser(simple green)then hit it with the clay bar and some Meguiars final touch for the bars lubricant.Lucky for me my cars dont see that kind of grime. Now waxing wheels, that the stuff that I hate doing.

Rub it across the paint like it is a bar of soap. Keep the surface wet with a lubricant. I use a small amount of Zaino car wash liquid in a spray bottle filled with water. I believe the Zaino web sight might have some instructions.

Meguiars has a kit that comes with clay bar and "detail wax" that is the lubricant as well as a small bottle of carnuba wax. I didn't think it would do much but it is quite impressive...got it at Walmart!

My guess is that most clay bars are the same or very similar.

I assume they're all the same. I use Meguiars detailing clay with Pinnacle clay lube.

JRocket, good call on the degreaseer. I'll try that next time. I drive my car everyday, in anything but snow, so it gets dirty+++. I also ran Nitto drag radials as my last set of street tires, so I had a lot of **** plastered to the rear fenders.
