Dusted a new LS2 Corvette with my '08 E63 wagon
Hi everyone,
I've been a lurker here for a while, have some experience with high performance cars including a '95 911, and a 2000 M5. I recently took delivery of a 2008 E63 wagon, Iridium Silver with black interior, PII package. I babied it through the 1000 mile breakin, and have been slowly letting it out of its cage ;<). It has about 1700 miles on it now, and I love the beast. The point of the post is the fun I had today when a new LS2 Corvette pulled up next to me at a light, with lots of open road in front of us. I haven't street raced anyone in a long time, but couldn't resist this challenge. I left the car in Sport auto shifting, and turned off the A/C. The long and short of it was that the E63 wagon DUSTED this guy. It was absolutely no contest. I was blown away by how easily I won. He pulled up next to me again at about 50 MPH, and signaled for a rollon from that speed, and the scenario was repeated.
The most fun was when I pulled into my local car wash a mile further along, and when I came out front where the cars are dried and polished, a guy who arrived later, getting external-only service on his Escalade had gone through quicker than me, and had told the attendants that he had just seen my Mercedes wagon dust a Corvette. They were all over me about the car.
There is nothing better than a sleeper car. I am loving this. It will be a miracle if I keep my driver's license for a month, but it sure is fun. Just had to share the experience.

Love it!
Thanks for the story. Stuff like this never gets old.
But, beware, sooner than later someone will get you when you least suspect it. The good news is you don't have to talk about it!

Great sleeper car.
Car and Driver reviewed the E55 wagon a couple of years ago: http://www.caranddriver.com/shortroa...amg-wagon.html
My favorite line from that article: ""Mommy, race that Ferrari!""
Enjoy!

Regardless, the convertible is fun in different ways.
It is still a nice kill, let's just not do it on public roads......
