'04 IC Pump went bad at 39K. SC shutting off gave it away. After the replacement noticeable difference in WOT and no shut off yet in Las Vegas 100+ weather. Dealer was good and covered it with no issues.

Question. If the dealer replaces the I/C pump with the same stock unit, doesn't that mean we can look forward to repeated failures?

Knock on wood, my pump has been functioning OK. Is it possible that a poorly functioning pump could still "work" but work at a reduced capacity. Or could a malfunctioning pump cause the IAT's to increase enough for the car to pull timing, but the s/c to continue to operate. Where I am getting - is it possible to have a bad pump without it being bad enough to completely shut down the supercharger? If so, then it might be possible to drive around not realizing that your car is at 80% and not 100%.

That would be yes, yes, yes and yes, that is why a data-logger is your best friend.

Thanks, thanks, thanks, and thanks.

Any suggestions for a good, reasonably-priced, data-logger?

Thanks, but it looks so damned complicated. (I am becoming my dad).

So you load software onto a laptop, buy an adapter to connect it to your OBDII port, run the program, and let it record the data as you drive? Then you access the data and tell the program how to display what you'd like to see, e.g., IAT's, load, timing, etc?

Is that about right?

I had my IC pump replaced twice under warranty with approx. 35k and 55k kms. on my E55 K wagon ! I now have 135 k kms. on the clock and no more problems. Seems uprated pump was installed second time around. And I don't drive slowly... see signature !
