Auction failure

When a dealer puts a car on ebay and it fizzles, does it make it easier to negotiate now that he cannot move it?

Usually, the dealer will relist the car immediately in a new auction. If you call the dealer, they will negotiate with you while the car is on Ebay (as if it wasn't even there). Ebay is just another outlet they use and the fact that they can't move the car will only reduce the price as time goes on. The longer you can wait the better but you always run the risk of someone else buying the car. Just remember that there is always another car. Have fun while you are looking....

Thats what I figured. I have been looking for months and this one was close to what I wanted, its the distance to the dealer that holds me back. I have a thread in Classifieds section, but no luck yet. With all the cuts in the market out west (Nevada,California,Texas, New Mexico), I would think some major selling would be going on. Heck, I even have been looking at Lease takeovers.

I still have a hard time understanding how fast they depreciate. I usually keep mine for 5-6 years, but with the way they are going even a CPO is crazy. My clients tell me get to BMW and they hold up better with no maint. costs and a damn good warranty. I may end up looking at a 550i this week.

But OH THAT BEAST...... When you see one flying past, you just got to have one.

You are right. The depreciation is highly accelerated for a car of this caliber. BMW's seem to hold their price better. He!!, every car out there seems to hold it's price better.

i found my car on ebay. called the dealer in CO and got it for 200 less than the starting big price which was low book back then. They even covered the shipping to CA. Guaranteed the car to be immaculate as I bought it sight unseen. Another member even said he went to look at the car after I had the paperwork completed and vouched for it.

No regrets. Only thing is make sure to buy this kind of car from am MB dealer.

Good luck!
Mike

was not cpo. since my last car - 05 E500 was bought back by mbusa when the car arrived in CA i purchased an additional 5 years up to 85K for $2500 at cost from the dealer so it was a no brainer. dealer would not cpo it cuz they were giving it away at the time.
