Picking Up a 2006 E55
I'll be picking up a 2006 E55 this Saturday, it'll be checked out by Mercedes before I pick it up though. Is there anything special I should look out for?
Can't wait.

Won't be a bad idea to ask the dealer to print out the VMI report for the history of the car. There should not be many trips to the service department for problems.

Several points to ponder when checking it out.
1. Check the body with a small magnet to help ID any bondo/body work.
2. Check the paint with a paint meter to determine any repainting-the dealer has this.
3. Have the Seller pay for a wheel alignment and balancing.
4. May want to talk to dealer to qualify for an extended warranty beyond factory.
5. Ask for a car fax report.
6. If you can't get a copy of the Car's factory sticker to verify equipment, ask the dealer to run the VIN and print out a NetStar Report.
7. Lift the underfloor mat in the trunk and check out the battery and tire stuff.
8. If I were to get the car, I would change the oil and oil filter, air filters, a/c-cabin filters, and fuel filter.
9. Check the breaks for wear.
Before you do all this stuff, ask the buyer why is he selling it. If he says he raced at the drags every weekend, he is on his 3 rd set of rear tires, and just abused the hell out of the car, you know he is honest.

I'll be flying out Saturday morning to pick it up and I'll have a 750 mile drive back home - happy or what!!
I have already had my local Benz dealer pull a VMI report - which showed 2 entries, one about Guide Bushing being Leaky and something with the filler cap for fuel tank - both fixed under warranty.
I also have a Netstar print out on it listing all options, Carfax too it all clear.
Beware all - New kid on the block!
