E63: Brake noise
I need your help on brake noise on E63
The dealer replaced pads and said that pads were glazed.
They told me to use brake harder to avoid glazing.
6000 miles on the pads, the noise is back
I am taking the car for service this Friday.
What should I ask them to do to fix the problem?
Are there any E63 with similar problems?
Should I use after market pads?
The noise is pretty bad when I am slowing down to stop.
I've tried everything.
Help please!
So your saying there is something they can do about it? I don't want cheaper pads so save sound, I bought the car for performance.
And whats this I found in TSB:
P-42_46-43 JUN 04 Brakes - Squeaking Noise On Application
Does this not sound more like his problem? Where did you find your TSB?

I just got a call from the dealer and they said that there is new brake pad for E63. It suppose resolve brake noise. They said that there are new parts number for the pads(both front and rear).
I have not pick up the car yet due to transmission leakage.
I will try the new pads and hopefully this will resolve the noise issues.
What do you guys think?
Anybody heard of new pads from MB?
The new pads work great and no more noise.
What exactly is happening with your transmission leakage? Any symptoms or drivability/performance issues?
I spotted some oils in my garage so asked them to check for me.
They said something about transmission leakage. I will know more when I pick up the car tomorrow.
However I did not notice anything before I took it to the dealer.

If no1 does not work try 2... check pistons are not stuck.
If all else fails just get the Brembo GT pack ... got drilled and slotted varaints ... but you will need 19" wheels.

I'll let you know...I've had this problem for 3 months or so. A few weeks ago I called to make an appointment for the TSB and when I got there they didn't know one existed. So I pointed out the number to them and the SA thanked me for the information (although his mechanic tried to do a CYA by saying it wasn't the rears, it's the fronts). Great, then the SA comes out and says they don't have the pads anyway, he'll order them. So away I go and now I'm back, waiting for them to be installed, and now I hear there's a TSB for the FRONTS as well. Fat chance getting them installed now, they probably won't know about the new TSB until I tell them.
Fair warning: before you go to the dealer to get this done make SURE they know a TSB exists and they have the pads!

And BTW, the squealing does seem to have stopped. How long it will last I don't know, but this confirms it WASN'T my front brakes (which the SA insisted were the only ones squealing) since nothing was, supposedly, done to them today.
So get your free pads, if only to stick it a little back to MB.

FYI the service department said, and I quote, "How the heck did you get this info (re:the TSB's)" Told them I know people in high places. Thanks forum members for the info. It's us vs. them.

I talked to SA and told me that front pads are same as before.
He said that there is a new part for front brake caliper.
It suppose to apply even pressure to the pad. He said that uneven pressure to
the pads caused noise.
I am confused. So are there new front pads?
P-B-42.46/43 released 6/24/04 – 211.026/065/070/076/082/083/265/282/283, MY03-05 checks for air in the SBC system if a squeaking noise is heard when gently applying brake.

*** P-B-42.10/76 released 7/19/07 – 211.077 (e63), 219.377 (cls63), 230.472 (sl55) and 230.479 (sl65) installs new rear pads (part # A005 420 22 20) to resolve brake squeal.
*** P-B-42.10/79 released 9/20/07 – All 211 models, all MYs resolves front/rear brake squeal by first applying brake paste and if this does not solve the squeal pads will be replaced with the latest MBUSA part number.
I am not aware of any new e63 front pads or caliber parts and EPC (MBUSA electronic parts catalog) does not list any part revisions. Possibly Ckim1021 can get the new part number(s) or associated bulletin from his SA to confirm this.
