New M5 Vs. E63 Last Night 40 - 150+

If past experience is any guide (i.e., the previous RS6), it'll be fast down low but not so fast up high; the E39 M5, for example, pulled the RS6s up high, and I beat an RS6 3/3 times a few years back.
But that's past experience...Audi has been getting better at making top end power, although their cars' trap speeds are not nearly as consistent as they should be with advertised horsepower (example: the RS4s which have been tested trapping at 106...not what one would expect w/that car's rated weight/hp ratio). Plus, they're talking 550-600 hp from this thing; if it makes 550, it will probably still lose to the AMGs and M5s up high. IF it makes 600, it would probably be a bit faster, although time will tell.
Also, I have a very good friend w/ an M5. I owned an M5 for a year as well.
It would be fun to compare the 3 of the 'em and if the C32 wants to join, awesome!
I got to run a highly tuned S2000 and an SLK55. I was amazed at how easily I walked both of them from pretty much all speeds. The S2000 had this amazing sounding exhaust. The SLK55 was stock.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
4 - 10 cars is BS unless the AMG had four 250lb people in it and the M5 had just the driver & a 1/8 tank of gas....
I'm willing to line up a race against a stock E55 for comparison in Houston if anyone is interested. I had an '04 E55 for about a year. I really enjoyed that car and modded it with just a pulley change. That car made 405 stock to my 63's 410 stock. With the pulley change on the 55 it made 457 rwhp with a cool engine.

Out the hole M5 and 63 will have no chance. Neither will the 2 1/2 tonne Bentley GT unless it's *heavily modded*
My deposit is down
hahaha yea, lived here for 3 yrs now and havent made a step in disney, dont find it intresting, but hey, when you get tha gt-r, definitely let me know, my project would be done by the time ur car comes out hehe, nissan vs. nissan, and then, gallardo vs e55 or somethin
No, seriously, hadn't read anything about this in the press. But out of the hole, a Euro-spec (i.e., w/full launch control) M5 is nothing to sneeze at.
Anyway, jury's still out on this one....w/580 horsepower, it *should* be faster, but between the higher parasitic driveline losses and (typical) higher weight, this is not guaranteed....will definitely be looking forward to seeing this beast, though!
That new S5 is just gorgeous, inside and out...but curiously, it seems that Audi has decided to take the S cars out of the horsepower competition to AMG/BMW and use the RS series for this role...but historically, the RS series' price points have been substantially higher, so I'm not sure if this will work out well for them. It is an odd marketing strategy, not sure what they're thinking here....time will tell, I guess!
AWD, DSG and turbos is hard combination to beat.
